Westin Bayshore Hotel Vancouver

My family and I (hubby, daughters 10 and 13) stayed at the Westin Bayshore for two nights in the Tower Suite with the King and Murphy Bed. Yeah…don’t do that. The suite has a huge, heavy couch in front of the Murphy Bed and furniture has to be reconfigured in the room to even use it. Still, when we arrived at the hotel we were promptly greeted by concierge. The gentlemen in concierge are really pretty great and I must say, they were the absolute best thing about our stay. After our concierge greeting and assistance with luggage, we made our way to the front desk. It was pretty early in the day and our room was not ready. After being told there was an indoor pool, we went in search of all the pools for my youngest daughters’ sake who was looking forward to swimming. I must say that we are a “minority” family who travel quite frequently but we were unprepared for all the ganders and glances of mostly the staff. I approached one of the restaurant managers who was also a minority to determine the location of the indoor pool and I was promptly told, “This outdoor pool is the only pool we have.” I could not help but feel like that was his way of shooing me out of the hotel because he maybe thought I was not staying there. Still we continued our walk about and we were very impressed with the facility. Check-in time is 3:00 pm so at 3:05 I was pretty sure our room would be ready. No such luck. The front desk attendant gave us Starbucks coffee vouchers and told us that our room was large and it takes a bit of time to clean. That did not sit well with my hubby. Since our arrival I was told that they would text when our room was ready. They never did and at 3:33, I approached the front desk again. We were finally told our room was ready and were given our keys. We proceeded to the room and while the view was gorgeous and the rooms were spacious, the furniture arrangement did not make sense given our needs and the description of a Murphy bed which was inaccessible. Unfortunately, the bathroom off the bedroom was handicap accessible which certainly was not my request and my reservation was made 3 months in advance. So, not sure what happened there but a very minor detail.

The food at the restaurant was really good although quite expensive. The beds were comfy and everything was clean. Housekeeping was really polite and helpful as well. The hotel really is nicely done and overall we enjoyed our stay, location and even the two swimming pools. There is a grocery store (Safeway) in walking distance to the hotel, as well as, a good amount of restaurants. Vancouver is a lovely, unique destination. The Westin Bayshore, however, assistance needed with “soft skills” and accommodations for families

We stayed here Canada Day for a week and it was just amazing. Brian FD Manager was kind and friendly, offered complimentary upgrade. We booked Harbour view room over looking Canada Day fireworks..view was awesome.
Location was perfect, we used complimentary bikes and rode to Stanley Park every morning. We walked the entire week, so close to everything..seawall, restaurants, grocs…shopping.
The best part..the amazing beautiful pool..we spent many sunny hot days in this wonderful oasis. We had breakfast outside on the deck by the pool..beautiful little treed park like area…loved it. Peach berry french toast was to die for.
Definitely vacationing here again

Westin Grand Hotel Vancouver

My husband and I recently stayed here for 3 nights in mid-July. Here are the pros and cons:

PROS
1. Location: The Westin Grand was extremely centrally located in the shopping district. There was a Starbucks 50 m away, a Tim Hortons coffee shop next door and many multicultural cafes all within a 2 block radius. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the stylish restaurants in Yaletown.
2. Comfortable: Our room was very well equipped with a sofa, desk, 2 TV’s and a wonderfully comfortable bed.
3. Excellent Wifi: The wifi service was complimentary and fast. We were able to stream Netflix with no issues.
4. Staff: The people working at the Westin were all friendly, courteous and helpful.

CONS
1. Cleanliness: The day we checked in, it was around noon and we noticed a breakfast tray with dirty dishes on our guest floor by the elevator. It stayed there a couple of hours. The next day, similarly dirty dishes were left in the hall of floor 17 (by the “Hotel Associates door”, no less) around 10 am and were still there when we returned around 3:30 pm.
2. Concierge/Bike Rentals: The concierge lady strongly pushed the “Spokes” bike rental place by Stanley Park on the grounds that “traffic is so busy” from the Westin to Stanley Park. It was 10:30 am on a Friday morning and as we walked down to Spokes, we observed that Vancouver’s streets were a lot less crowded than in other major metropolises. There were also many bike lanes. Just as a point of reference, it was $34 to rent a 7-speed cruiser bike for 6 hours from Spokes versus $9.85 to rent a City of Vancouver cruiser bike for 24 hours. There was a big City bike stand on Homer and Robson, just 100 feet from the front door of the Westin Grand. We will definitely rent a City bike next time.
3. Extremely Slow Elevators: The Westin has only 2 small elevators which were very slow, heavily scuffed up and could not efficiently accommodate hotel guests. We often encountered the Westin’s cleaning staff in these 2 elevators so there must not be a separate staff elevator. Interestingly (at least on our floor 17), there was a large TV positioned at the elevator bank, probably there to distract guests from the very long wait times. 10-15 minute waits were not uncommon.

Overall, the location can’t be beat. You are right by the harbor so taking a quick jog you can quickly get to Stanley Park. The facility itself is a bit old and needs some renovation. Some of the amenities could be better. Attended a conference – the conference food was pretty standard. Overall, an acceptable stay but if I had to choose a hotel in Vancouver, regardless of the location, not sure that I would return.

Loved the location and the view from our hotel room!! The outdoor pool was also very relaxing for an afternoon! Only had lunch at the restaurant but it was very good! Loved that they had bikes you could use for up to two hours free!!

We picked this hotel because of its location and were not disappointed!
Walked from cruise ship to hotel and used hotel bikes to tour Stanley Park. Purchased tickets for Hop On Bus in the hotel. Pool was very relaxing.

The trip to Vancouver (first and second time) around was made very enjoyable from the booking of this Hotel (Westin Bayshore), travelling from the Airport via Skytrain and city transit and use of through many attributes, attractions and amenities be it the bikes, walking path and tours. We had an issue with our air conditioning and shower drain. However the hotel quickly corrected them and enhanced our experience at the hotel. The hotel restaurant H2 served an out of this world breakfast buffet. This hotel was in the prime spot for all the action, sites via any mode of transportation. All staff were pleasant, helpful and engaging no matter their role within the organization. Definitely returning next time back in Vancity!! Thank you for a wonderful experience and stay.

Thank you to the Westin Grand and specially to Chris at the front desk for making me feel welcome.

This is a great hotel with lots of amenities. It’s close to everything and the room are beautiful.
I try to stay here every time I’m in Vancouver.
You guys are great !

I have stayed at many Westin Hotels (Paris, New York, Seattle) and always felt it was a very good hotel. I did not feel that way about the Westin Grand in Vancouver. I will start with the positives: I got upgraded from a corner deluxe room to a suite. The room was spacious and new. Location was great, right on Robson street, main area in downtown. The biggest problem were the elevators. They have two and sometimes only one working. A typical wait is 20-25 minutes. When I asked why the elevators are so so slow they said because there are lots of guests! The hotel underwent a recent major renovation but did not include elevators. That is planned for later this year.

The refrigerator in the room was not cooling drinks. When I asked if someone can check it out I was told it was not meant to cool bottles of water I buy from elsewhere. I told the front desk I would buy their bottle of water if it was cool and if the refrigerator smelled better and she just shrugged her shoulders. Terrible customer service.

Westin along with Le Meridien are the top level hotels. In this particular instance I had a better experience at a Four Points Sheraton for a fraction of the price. This room cost $400 ( Canadian)/ night.

In a nutshell, the poor customer service, especially at the front desk, had the most negative impact in my visit.

The hotel is beautiful and we love the suites. They are nicely laid out with the bathroom away from the bedroom. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Carlie, the Experience Specialist, had reached out before our trip to offer help with our visit. I took her up on her offer and she sent us a Vancouver “To Do” list, restaurant recommendations, and Victoria Island information. The “To Do” list was invaluable as it contained directions and sights to see. I was fortunate to meet Carlie during our stay and thank her in person but she helped make our stay memorable, so thank you again, Carlie! All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to our return visit later in the month.

We stayed 2 nights while visiting from Vancouver Island for a concert. We were in a newly renovated suite that was a blend of comfort and luxury with all the modern touches. I personal loved the lavender sleep roller – it was such a personal touch.

We had food and in the restaurant which was also great- 5 star! We shared almost ever small plate on the menu with friends and loved them all.

When we walked into the suite, we were shocked. We expected a more standard hotel room, but instead found a very nice suite, well-decorated. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

I’ve stayed here a few times and it never disappoints me. The location is gorgeous. As a business traveller I appreciate being removed from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core. This hotel is fabulous. Serene and an overall relaxing experience. A real treat for a traveller who wants to unwind after the day whether conducting business or sightseeing. Cardero’s Restaurant is next door. Another must do!

The Westin Bayshore was fabulous. The location, attractions and view — to die for. Very memorable. An outstanding experience.

The hotel staff was vey polite and professional. I attended a business meeting for 3 days. Everyone at our event was very pleased with the meeting rooms, staff support and food/beverages. We had several Americans from the east coast who had never been to Vancouver. They were truly impressed with the Westin Bayshore Inn.

the receptionist was very kind and helpful. hotel facilities are seamlessly good. breakfast is awesome and the environment is absolutely stunning. super highly recommended. pay a little more to stay in the bayview rooms. you will be overwhelmed with the scene.

I can’t say enough good things about the Westin Grand. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable…the bed, the pillows…wow! Our sleeps were excellent. The bathrooms are large in size and are equipped with the basics which is nice to not have to pack a hair dryer or shampoo. The maid service was incredibly fast. We would head out for a meal and come back 90 minutes later and our room was made up again. Very impressed. The elevators are slow, I do agree with that but all in all this is the place we will continually choose whenever we are in Vancouver. Great location for downtown activities. We had the best time here. A $25-30 cab ride back to the airport is all it cost us and we felt that was reasonable. We highly recommend the Westin Grand!

Hotel is very nice. Staff are always friendly and prepared. Rooms are an odd shape, but well appointed and clean. This building has the slowest elevators I’ve ever come across. Expect they will take 5 minutes to arrive to any floor above 10

I have always loved the location of this hotel, its so close to everything downtown. However there are a few things that I would like to say about our last stay. We arrived later in the evening and our duvet cover was dirty I didn’t realize it until the next morning, the pillows were awful they were a regular size pillow that seemed to be way over used and they had extra large pillow cases on them. Lastly I notice a mouse running around outside by the pool one evening which isn’t a huge deal(better out than in) I will always recommend this hotel as it is one of my favourites it definitely has more good things about it then bad.

This property is a great place to stay and I have been to a few conferences here in past year and they have a good layout for that too.

The rooms I have had are well appointed and have good views of the marina right next door.

There is a Starbucks on site along with a restaurant and lounge.

The staff all seem super friendly.

The one drawback is the location. It is perfect for a stroll along the water (part of Coal Harbour area), but if you want a big selection of eating or shopping, you will have a bit of a walk or cab ride. I did have to take a cab to the Canada Line (Waterfront station seems closest) and it was around $10.

The restaurant next door to this property is well worth a visit (Cardero’s Restaurant and Marine Pub) and if weather is nice they have a great deck that immerses you in the sights and sounds of the marina. If it is a bit cool in the evening they have patio heaters and blankets at the tables.

Greeted by warm friendly staff! The new H2 Rotisserie Restaurant is great! The Executive Chef, Kamal visited our table. The food, a great experience of fusing local supply with international flare! Our view looked out onto the well manicured courtyard, and the service stellar. The server described some of the new renovations ready to open soon and we look forward to taking this Oceanside property in again next time we are in town!

Great location, all amenities and perfect Food and Beverage!

The hotel just opened their new restaurant and it’s called H2! So cool! I was thrilled to try varied dishes and ok, we all had rotisserie chicken before however this is the best one in the world. Tender, juicy, delicious. We also tried the pulled chicken poutine and it was outstanding. The serve kumbucha and it had a hint of ginger, so good. As last time, the hotel is super clean and I did see the General Manager, again, Martin, all over the restaurant, making sure it’s high standard. Impressive. Love the energy, and I am now even more excited to be returning!

I loved the outdoor pool and hot tub. Heaven!! The warm birthday wishes, hand made card and treats were a lovely surprise. Thank you for the added thoughtfulness. I look forward to returning after the renovations are complete to see the new look.

Concierge was very kind and helpful with directions for new to Vancouver people like ourselves. Room was clean and quiet! Floor to ceiling windows with a view of Robson and beyond were breathtaking.

This hotel was terrible. The wifi did not connect half of the time, and even when it did, it was extremely slow. When we asked the guy at the front desk for help, he stated that this “had never happened before”. Obviously it has. So now i had to use my small data plan to send important work emails.

Loved the bed for comfort and I love the all white bedding with comforter. Loved the location, very handy to everything. Nice size of bathroom. We really enjoyed the view and lights. Front desk was very helpful for directions. Thank you

Nice location! Beautiful city view from our 27th floor room is shown in the picture. Staff was very helpful and kind.

Really enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet and staff were friendly and helpful. They have bikes you can use to ride around the sea wall etc. which we did! Lots of fun.
You do have to walk a bit to get to popular locations ( like Robson St), but that was fine for us.

Great room with friendly and helpfull front desk staff, we did not like the setup of our first room and they quickly sent someone up to bring us to a different room which was fantastic. Nice dinner in gastown at night and the next morning we had breakfast at the restaurant and the food was great ! Excited to see the new lobby
The hotel is located on the waterfront in Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver. This is a excellent location as is is close the sites and restaurants. The Westin Hotel is older but has been updated. The room are comfortable. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The Westin is pet friendly and lots of places where you can walk your pet. As this Hotel is in downtown Vancouver parking is expensive. $36.00 plus 21% Translink fee and pst/gst to take it to close to $50.00 per day. This I’d for self parking, valet parking is available for a extra charge. Would advise to find other parking close to the hotel or use local transit instead of driving if possible. The is an extra charge for WiFi @ $14.95 per day but free in the lobby. As this is in a desired location the restaurant prices are on the higher end. i.e. continual breakfast is around $17.00. Close by there are other restaurants, Grill and bars that are more reasonable in pricing. All in all a nice place to stay while in Vancouver.
