Lord Stanley Suites On The Park

We arrived in Vancouver to discover our room (penthouse) was much smaller than advertised. The website claims freshly renovated (my question would be when?) The living room is so small that two people fill it completely. The television didn’t work for the first night and wasn’t reported to the day staff. The toilet backed up and the staff were unable to locate a plunger. At least the person on the front desk suggested Safeway to get one at 10.30pm. The kitchen lights didn’t work without turning the ceiling fan on. No milk or tea bags, no customer service by the man on the desk on our arrival. He doesn’t know how to problem solve. The master room (laughing) no ceiling fan and due to the room being 70% glass it was very hot. Then a disappointing breakfast where nothing was explained and to an Australian you just don’t help yourself to the fridge or cupboards but this was expected here. The is a shower curtain in the bath made the shower a very closed in space and a funny grey mold on the tiles doesn’t say freshly renovated.
The vertical blinds did nothing to keep the light or the heat out of both the main room and the strange glassed in patio. All in all the hotels saving grace was the location and Sunday onwards staff. I would not say this is value for money. I hope our other hotels are not as disappointing this one during our stay in Canada.

My family booked an one bedroom unit here for 4 nights. Great location so close to Stanley park, restaurants and boat harbour. We were lucky to be on the Harbour side so had great views ( we go to see the view from the other side of the building when we had a plumbing issue and had to spend a night in another unit while the issue was resolved), The unit was too small for four adults but as we were only there 4 nigh were weren’t able to book a 2 bed unit which was very disappointing.
Staff were very helpful and able to come up with a suitable solution to a plumbing issue that arose in the unit.

Deluxe King Suite: the master bedroom and bath were fine BUT the twin room was so tiny you had to climb a bed to get to the closet. There was barely any walking space. The window was jammed and the room was terribly stuffy. The light switches did not work and we even had to plug in some of the lamp ourselves and turn them on at the bases. The idea of two bathrooms was great, but the one off the dining area set off a blaring smoke alarm from steam, even when the door was closed. We had to constantly ask for towels since they did not provide wash cloths unless we asked. Parking was tight for the mini-van. Got stuck in hotel when keys got deactivated by mistake- you need them to use elevator or get to parking. Shuttle drops off only. Loud street noise due to paper thin windows which to not open. Location for walking was good, Breakfast and breakfast room staff was the best feature but they are discontinuing it. Pool area is shared with Marriott and is very humid, hot and the pool is high in chlorine. We had to ask them to clean better – the paper towel I used to wipe up water from a spill was black when I was done. The common living area was OK with very limited TV options. Overall disappointing.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay here. The rooms are very big – two bedrooms, lounge area, kitchenette and enclosed balcony with table and chairs. The beds are very comfortable, plenty of pillows, towels etc. We were on the 15th floor and even though there was some street noise there was very little noise from other guests. I would guess that rooms on the lower floors could suffer quite a bit with street noise though. The free breakfast (which is being discontinued in 2018) was limited but pastries were of a good standard. I would suggest popping down and getting the breakfast to eat in your room as the seating area is small and cramped. The decor is quite dated and tired but generally clean and tidy. For the price paid and the size of the room I would say this is a great base for a family holiday.
Stayed here for one night as we were transiting through Vancouver on our way to Victoria. Wanted a place that was convenient and could easily accommodate 5 people. The Landis hit the spot. We had a two bedroom room. The larger room had a king size bed with en suite. The second bedroom had a queen bed. There was another bathroom/toilet, a well stocked galley kitchen with large fridge, dining table for four, 2 seater sofa plus a single couch, and a small enclosed balcony/sunroom. Plenty of space for the 5 of us. We used the sofa bed and that was comfortable and not springy or noisy. Each room had its own tv. The room was clean and we had no issues with housekeeping. The hotel is in an excellent spot and many attractions can be reached by walking. We walked to Granville island from the hotel and it took us around 15 mins over the bridge to the island. The hotel did offer breakfast although we did take it up. There was a notice saying that they will discontinue this service though. The pool and gym area was fantastic. The pool was a great size and good for a doing a few laps in the morning. The hotel is next to the Marriot suites and it looks like they share the pool and gym area. There was parking available down below and were charged around $20 for the night. When you first walk into the lobby you get a sinking feeling as it is dated and the man behind the small counter is not the very sociable. However, the suite was great and did not disappoint. We were on the 3rd floor and it did get a little loud if we had the windows open from the Friday night street traffic, so perhaps getting a higher floor might help. The hotel was great and allowed us late check out at 12pm and even gave us a card so that we could leave the car there for longer and we got the car around 3pm.

Excellent rooms, extremely helpful staff, great location in town. This place was outstanding for the price, location, and experience. We would definitely stay here again at the drop of a dime. Grade A treatment from everyone.

we had a corner room–the view of the city at night was beautiful..the front desk staff was very helpful in suggesting how to get around the city and what attractions we could walk to from this location

There was confusion due to communication at the time of reservation regarding use of “Be My Guest” certificate. Staff at the hotel and Hilton Honors staff each went beyond the usual business practice to solve the problem and make my stay there a pleasure in every respect, which was much needed following a week of travel. Could not be more pleased or impressed at the helpful attitude and service.

Stayed here one night and enjoyed it. friendly professional staff, nice clean rooms, nice business room with computers, printers etc. nice lobby, pool etc. Elevators could be quicker. Didn’t care for the parking fee & the fact that every time you use the elevator you need to swipe (although I can understand the reasoning behind it). Otherwise, no complaints!

What won us to this place was a free parking promotion they were running in March when we booked for July. It didn’t disappoint, though. We’re right in the heart of the city, with easy access to everything we wanted to do (Stanley Park, Granville Island) by bus.

The hot tub in the Penthouse is lovely. Our room was clean, and surprisingly quiet for being right in the heart of Vancouver. Now, we were on the 8th floor, so I’m not sure if that would have been true on or nearer to the ground.

On the Penthouse as well, there’s a full service kitchen (you may want to bring your own forks — they only had two!) that we didn’t know about when booking, but we were thrilled to find! We cooked our dinners in there each night and saved a pile of money that way! There’s also a little rooftop terrace with a great view of the city from 12 floors up right off the kitchen.

We even discovered that there’s a common use ping pong table in the lobby area on our last night there! Cool!

The only thing I will say that was a bit disappointing was that it was difficult to unload luggage from the parking garage, as the elevator starts at parking level 1 and there are only stairs up from level 2. Also, having to use keys EVERYWHERE (even on the elevator to be able to push the buttons) was a little annoying, especially since our key cards magnetized several times and we had to keep replacing them. These things would certainly not stop me from staying here again, though!

We stayed in July 2017. The rooms were nothing special – I’d even say below average towels, bathroom amenities etc. But the Wifi was good, front desk staff very helpful and parking is available. The area is just a short walk and ferry ride to Granville Island. grocery store just a few blocks away. HotTub is tiny (2 people max). beds/pillows are average to below-average.

If your Vancouver stay will include Stanley Park, Nightlife (Gastown, Yaletown) and Granville Island – great place to stay. If your plans include items NORTH like Capilano, Grouse Mtn, Whistler etc, then you may want to stay north of the Lions Gate bridge. This bridge is bumper-to-bumper every day. Morning and Evening.

It was a great stay for our first trip to Vancouver. We were in a large group, so we had 4 separate rooms, but each room had a King sized bed and a queen sized pull out couch. This worked out really well to have two people in a large king and one person in a surprisingly comfortable queen. We didn’t expect to spend that much time in the hotel, but it was so comfortable that we often found ourselves relaxing and watching TV.

The service was great as well. We went to the downstairs bar a few times and it was quiet and relaxed and the bartenders were professional but not at all stuffy. The front desk and concierge were extremely friendly and accommodating. Our few interactions with housekeeping were also nice; I always tend to decline housekeeping for most of my stays, but I needed a refresh on towels and they brought them by right away after calling.

We were able to walk to Gastown, the stadium + edgewater casino, and Yaletown so it was extremely convenient. We only needed taxis to get to Granville Island and the airport. The pho place downstairs was also amazing but I think unaffiliated.

It was also easy to rent cars nearby and we drove out to Chillawhack for some intense river rafting.

The only con, was the placement of the control for the shower. You basically have to step into the glass shower to turn on the shower and most of us would forget in the morning and get sprayed by cold water. Tip: the water defaults to the handheld spout, so just make sure that’s not pointed at you. Then once that warms up, hit the button to switch and just be prepared for a bit of cold water.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel in early July. When checking in the desk clerk informed us that we had booked a room with 2 queen beds and he said he would have a look to see if he could get us a room with a King. To our absolute delight and surprise it turned out that a suite was available that we were upgraded to. This room was incredible, on the 33rd floor with a fantastic view. It was so big with a sitting room and kitchen in addition to the bedroom.
The location of the hotel is brilliant, 20 min walk to downtown and right beside Stanley park. The restaurant for breakfast was ok, no buffet. Overall the staff in the hotel amazing. Despite the slightly outdated look of the hotel it was really nice. We would stay here again if returning to Vancouver.

We stayed for 5 days for business meetings and a short holiday. Spacious rooms with great views especially from higher floors. It is right in the middle of West End with heaps of dining options on the door step. Walking distance to Stanley Park. Great to have a coin operated laundry in the hotel. Understand it is closing in November – that is a shame. Staff were friendly and helpful with one exception – one clueless concierge, a young Latino man who didn’t listen and couldn’t effectively answer anything.

The Hotel is in a great location – it is in need of some renovation (it is looking pretty tired) but the location out ways this. It is right in the middle of the numerous restaurants of all different cuisines. We absolutely loved all the restaurants we went to for dinners. You can walk either direction to great tourist spots, it’s a short walk to Stanley Park, the Seawall towards Canada Place and the other direction to catch the ferry to Granville Island. We are so happy we stayed here and the room is actually very spacious. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The Century Plaza is a very nice hotel that is conveniently located within walking distance to several city attractions. Rooms were nice and staff was great. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. Location also served as a stop for most excursions. Would make this a recommended stay and would return.

For the last two years we have celebrated my birthday in Vancouver and stayed at the Century Plaza. The first year everything was perfect, the staff were helpful, and the room was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the city. This last stay really was disappointing in comparison. My boyfriend booked the room as a gift for my girlfriend and I and they wouldn’t allow us to check in as his credit card wasn’t present. I understand policy, but no where in the booking information did it state that.

Spent 3 nights here in between a tour of the Rockies and a cruise. We had an executive studio on the 30 th (top) floor and the view was fabulous. The bathroom is a good size with a huge, deep bath and glass shower screen, the bath products were very nice, we had even been left toothbrushes and paste. The room is sunken, three steps down and spacious, king bed and plenty of room for a double sofa, desk, TV , fridge, coffee maker and microwave. There was a printer which was handy to print bag tags and itineraries. The gym is big with lots of equipment , the pool has reopened and looks nice but there is no hot tub. The 5 th floor has a room with 2 washers and dryers, a computer and TV. On site is a great coffee shop that sells a variety of tea, coffee and light meals. We also went to the Comedy Mix, on site and that was great too. We really enjoyed our stay, lots of little things added up to great care and attention and we appreciated the thoughtfulness.

We stayed for 2 nights as part of a longer trip and I wish we had booked in for longer! Great experience from start to finish.

Check in was efficient and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We received a free upgrade to a higher floor which was nice as our view over Robson Street at night was truly stunning!

The room was very clean, spacious and well equipped. The bed was SO comfortable and we weren’t disturbed by noise at all during our stay.

The location is excellent, particularly if you like to shop as you’re right in the middle of the main shopping street and there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby! You’re just 15 minutes walk from Canada Place and perhaps 20 minutes from Coal Harbour/ a little longer for Stanley Park. We took the free buses from Canada Place to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and Grouse Mountain which were both great days out and the Capilano Suspension Bridge bus actually dropped us back off right outside the hotel which was very convenient.

I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central base to explore Vancouver. Book it! You won’t regret it! Thank you to all at the Blue Horizon for a wonderful stay!

Was pleasantly surprised to see a huge twin room right in the heart of Vancouver city. It’s walking distance to the beach, Art Gallery, Chinatown and to the shopping district. The room is very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It also has a nice cafe, Abode.

Got room on 24th floor with two walls of windows overlooking city and harbor. Room modern décor and very clean. Walk in shower. Dined in on sight Abode restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Excellent food and service. Close to shopping on Robson St.

Check in was very easy, staff friendly. Rooms were superb could just see some Mountains with snow on the tops.
Bathroom spotless.
Would have liked more choice of coffee and tea and there was no milk or sugar but That is my only niggle.

Stayed here for three nights in late May and it was an excellent place to stay. Facilities and rooms were clean, comfortable and provided everything that was needed. Wifi good, staff friendly and helpful.

The only negative was the noise from the street below. If you closed the window to keep the noise out the room got too stuffy so you couldn’t sleep, but with window open was noisy so you couldn’t sleep. Otherwise would have been five star easily.

Loved our stay here and would stay again. Bus stop not far and from there you can access everywhere throughout Vancouver. Easy to hire a bike and ride around nearby park which was just beautiful.

We stayed at the Times Square hotel in downtown Vancouver for two nights in June 2017. We booked a two bedroom suite and it had a full kitchen, washer/dryer and one bathroom. There were two separate bedrooms although one was micro small with no closet. The living room also had a pull out couch making this room perfect for a family of 5. There was a French door that could be opened to the outside but there was just a railing and no way to step out or sit outside. There was parking available in a secure underground parking garage for $20 per night. The staff was very friendly and helpful and this hotel is ideally situated close to Stanley Park and within a block of restaurants, a grocery store and just about anything else you could think of. The room itself is a little worn and tired. Furnishings are not new and I think this is typical three star type accommodations. There is nothing luxury going on here but the rest of it makes up for it easily.

The hotel is a bit tired but well kepted. The bed was very comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful. A lot of food options nearby. Would recommend this hotel for sure. Walking distance to many attractions. Good value.

Selected this hotel based on ratings, and it’s really good. Spacious rooms with kitchen, great location near sea wall, good service, clean bathroom and comfy beds, everything worked. Includes continental breakfast which is pretty good, if you like carbohydrates: make your own waffles, also croissants, muffins, cereal. You are served on the small lobby, bring your plates down from your room, and bring your food back up to the room to eat and do your own dishes. Pretty efficient for the hotel, a bit inconvenient for guests.
But that’s minor. We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend Sunset.
Service is really good. Upon arrival there was an issue with our reservation, and the front desk clerk (shout out to Elvis!) resolved it quickly and efficiently.

Travelled with my wife on our annual holiday. Stayed at the Sunset for 6 nights. The rooms are very clean. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The room we had had a small kitchenette, but you collect your breakfast form the foyer and take it back to your room. 15 minute walk to the waterfront and restaurants. I suggest that you walk to most of the attractions as you get to see much more.
