Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

Comfy king size beds. Clean spacious room with decent views. Hi-def tvs, free wifi was average to slow. Check in and out was easy. Moderately priced for area. Nice amenities in the bathroom, separate shower and bathtub.

No complaints with this hotel. The rooms are large and clean. The bathrooms are well equipped and spacious. Lots of closet space. The only issue is the elevators can be very slow. The hotel is very central to shopping, restaurants, the art gallery and only a few blocks from the ocean.

The Good:
Comfortable beds
Friendly staff – front desk, concierge, and restaurant
Decent gym

The Bad:
Unusable internet – internet did not work in rooms or in business centre
Elevators were rickety and very slow
Outdated rooms

I stayed at this hotel for one week. The internet was not usable one of the days that I stayed at the hotel. I had to sit beside my balcony with the door open and use the internet from elsewhere to connect to internet and go to local cafes to work. I tried internet in the business centre and I could not even get a signal in there. This is a hotel in downtown Vancouver in the financial district – they should have internet that works. This is simply an issue of the hotel not paying for enough bandwith as the signal in my room was a full five bars. I tried connecting on two laptops, one ipad, and one iPhone – none worked. Had the internet worked I would have given this hotel 4*, but due to the major inconvenience of not being able to do any work from my room I have given it 2*. This is an easy fix that the hotel should look into immediately.

As a frequent business traveller, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and the room was not ready, but we were allowed to park our car early in the parking lot next building ($14 per night). The parking area that’s designated for the hotel guests is gated, so we felt safe to keep our car there. The room was small, which was okay, but it did not give out a fresh, clean feeling. The bathroom had a funky smell and there was hair in the sink and on the toilet when we first walked in (yuck). Also, the AC was not working, but the hotel provided a fan. The room was cool with the window open, but it was very loud at night since the room was facing a busy street. Even with these issues, we might stay here again in the future because the location was great (very close to shops and restaurants), as well as good parking option.

Very small-ish hotel that is in the center of town, a rather easy walk to the cruise pier (not with luggage though). Problem when we were there was the AC had broken and was not going to be fixed for at least as long as we were there (2 nights). Not a real problem as the windows open, but we were streetside and the garbage truck came at like 12:30 one night and a delivery was made at like 11:00 the next night. It was clean and ok for the price.

We spent 4 night in this hotel and couldn’t wait to leave. Not to well maintained, air conditioning in the whole hotel didn’t work for our whole stay. Lift REALLY slow. Breakfast service very slow. The bar lady, tall girl from dutch extraction outstanding. Very noisy corner

This hotel is in a great location. If location and price are your most important criteria, then definitely consider staying here.

However, in some respects, the facilities offered by the hotel don’t live up to the description. For example, the advertised “steam room” is in fact a (lukewarm) dry sauna, with no steam facility whatsoever. The gym is the smallest I have ever seen, and the pool is also small (10m).

Very old and scary lifts that you have to spend a good chunk of your time waiting for. The Tower of Terror was not as scary as these lifts. The room smell was atrocious as it was in the carpets and furniture. Other than location this hotel is a definite thumbs down unless the price dropped to less than half.

This hotel is clean with very friendly staff. The pool was a great temperature and we really enjoyed the hot tub. Also, the beds were some of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in. Finally, it is a great location if you are planning on walking around downtown!

Our Room did have an A/C unit in the room which kept the room a nice temp. The location was great and parking was secure across the street in a garage. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel was great but I did find Vancouver to be dirty. Trash on the sidewalks and streets. Some areas smelled of urine…
The Steam Clock in Gastown is a must see on the hour. It plays the Westminster Quarters and blows smoke on the hour. Cool Show.

First of all, this is a very small, boutique-type hotel. My guess is, it’s privately owned. Second, the staff is WONDERFUL. They were all so helpful and kind. The place looks as though it’s been fairly recently renovated. The original building is very old… probably historic.

When we arrived, the front desk clerk immediately informed us that there had been no A/C for a week. Apparently, they were having work done on it, but they didn’t anticipate having it for yet another week. They offered us a 20% discount on an already excellent rate if we’d go ahead and stay. Since it was only one night, we accepted.

Our room was on the second floor and was quite adequate. There was a very nice computerized safe for our belongings and fortunately, we were able to open the windows. Everything was clean as a whistle, aside from one small patch on the bathroom ceiling that looked as though there had been a leak and it was starting to mold.

Sadly, this hotel appears to be rather near a questionable part of town. Also, there is a bar attached to it. Because we had to open the windows, it took us awhile to get to sleep, since it was a Friday night and people were partying two stories below. We were really tired, and eventually got to sleep, despite a lot of outside city noise that went on all night long. The beds were very nice.

Because I booked through Orbitz, the front desk staff said they’d have to contact Orbitz for my 20% off refund. I have to say in the defense of the hotel that our refund happened within two or three days after our stay. I was really impressed with their integrity.

If I ever returned to Vancouver for a short stay, I would consider this hotel again. Hopefully, their A/C would be fixed!

A quiet personable hotel right downtown easy to access from airport by sky train easy walk to conference Center and shopping great restaurant and pool Clean, welcoming, efficient, where I prefer to stay in Vancouver

I can’t say the Metropolitan was great, but neither was it poor, it was sort of average.
We had to struggle into the hotel with our baggage, as there was no one to open the door or porter in evidence.
The reception staff were a bit indifferent, and not a little arrogant. The concierge a little vague and not too helpful. That said the room was good and quiet at the back of the hotel, so not all bad.
On the plus side it is a good central location and a short walk to the cruise terminal, and this is a bonus.
So it was ok
That said the art work in reception was stunning, and well worth close inspection.

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel on a “stay more save more” deal.
Our King luxury room was very large and spacious. The marble bathroom was excellent as it was huge and had a separate bath and shower. The amenities were nice and very generous including a coffee maker with free daily coffee and a kettle on request.
Whilst this is not a new hotel, it is very comfortable and the location is perfect. The area is nice and within walking distance of most tourist attractions and lots of restaurants. The bus and the train station are only minutes walk away.
The staff were all very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Moda Hotel Vancouver

This hotel was exactly what I needed on my recent trip to Vancouver. Located in Yaletown, there was not a shortage of places to eat or things to do. The hotel was a bit small, but hey, you are in Vancouver! If you are hanging out in your hotel room all day/night, you are doing it wrong. Cool little wine bar in the building and a small market just up the street. Really, the perfect stay!

Moda is not a 5 star hotel but for the price and the location it is really good value. Stayed there twice staff are helpful rooms a re clean and the Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel has really good food

We stayed in room on 3rd floor for 2 nights. Room with large bed, clean and comfortable. how every the wifi wasn’t not good. The hotel has great location with many restaurants, bars nearby. The city station is walking distance. Staff was so nice and pleasant. We recommend this hotel for anyone.

Arrived and was quickly checked in. The room was functional with a large bed with room to move around. The room comes with a safe, coffee machine, iron and ironing board, a range of complimentary toiliteries, hairdryer and fridge. At the end of our corridor was a room with an ice machine, microwave, desktop computer and shredder which was always available. We used the computer to print out our boarding passes for our next flight. We used the restaurant for breakfast at a flat rate of $15 per person. There was a good selection and the food which was cooked and presented very well with excellent service. The hotel is in a good location and has the benefit of a wine bar and sports bar attached. Although the building itself is old you would never know from its interior. Very modern and well presented. I would definitely stay there again.

This is one of those hotels that you know you will stay at again if you come back to that town.

A little boutique hotel on a plot that gives just 15 rooms per floor and around 150 overall. Genuine, personal luxury where there are some much bigger ones round the corner.

It is very well situated. Bus and train links in the Pacific Centre over the road. Four blocks downhill and you are at Canada Place and the waterfront, Round the back, 5 mins you are in the designer name shopping area. 15 mins to Gastown and Chinatown. Almost anything you want is just a short distance away.

Bedroom really nice, little balcony, very comfortable bed, a lot of marble in the bathroom and all the facilities you want including a machine that makes capsule style coffee. Not a sound anytime to keep us awake.

Nice little restaurant attached for any meals you want in and lots around if you want to eat out.

The staff were great and attentive service from everyone. I mention the doorman on arrival that helped us not get a ticket outside the hotel before we turned in our rental car next block over.

I pick out Rob, the concierge, for excellent service that added to our holiday enjoyment. Endless patience and fount of knowledge. Contacts to help you get the right table in that restaurant.

Quality and personal service from one end to the other.

We Stayed 1 night at the metropolitan after a cruise prior to flying home,
Comfortable rooms and good service, walking distance to all attractions
Bedding was comfortable and views from a higher level

We stayed here for 3 nights in May. The hotel is fantastically located. You can walk to most locations from here, easily hail a cab or jump on the metro with ease. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and was clean.
The decor was a little dated -carpets and paint work could do with updating.
But overall a very good hotel to stay in. There is a great bar downstairs and no noise from this late at night.

The hotel is reasonably priced for a downtown hotel and is located within walking distance to many areas. The rooms and elevators are small. Beds were comfortable and employees helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was very good for breakfast

Ideally situated for easy walking to all of Vancouvers attractions ,we used this hotel as a stop over before our Alaskan cruise .It was built in 1918 so don’t expect modern just friendly staff and on site bar and restaurant that are good

I love the convenience of getting to this hotel from the airport on the metro. Current fare is $6.75/adult from the airport to downtown (Zone 1) and the hotel is less than a half block walk from the City Centre station. The staff have always been warm and friendly, and this stay was no exception. I stayed in 805 on this visit and found the room spacious with a large, firm king-size bed. I arrived after 10 PM, so the restaurant (Diva) was already closed for the evening, although the bar was still going strong. The bathroom was also quite spacious, and I liked having separate shower and tub, even if the shower is definitely a one-person operation. This was the first time that I noticed a long delay in getting hot water after I opened the faucet, which probably indicated either few people staying on the same floor or the fact that I was showering well after everyone else had finished for the evening. I appreciated the Nespresso coffee maker in the room and the morning paper waiting for me outside the door. I always enjoy my stays at the Met and would recommend it highly to anyone looking to stay in downtown Vancouver.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Metropolitan. Taxis sat outside most of the time, so they were very easy to get. Staff was wonderful, couldn’t be better. The location is perfect. Shopping and restaurants, as well as other attractions, were very easy to get to. I would definitely stay here again.

Moda Hotel Vancouver

This was my first time staying at the Moda hotel. I am usually one to book at a hotel chain or more well known hotels, but decided to give the Moda a try. What a pleasant surprise! We got a great deal with free parking and free breakfast, which is normally not included. Not only was it a nice, chic, friendly place, but the location was great, close to downtown shopping and the Rogers arena was only a 10 minute walk. The free wi-fi was decent, (I usually hate hotel wi-fi). The rooms were fairly small, (which we expected) but were newly renovated and nicely furnished. There is a nice little wine and cocktail bar which we had a chance to enjoy and we enjoyed our free breakfast in the restaurant both mornings.

We stayed in the room right next to the room we’d been in prior but this one was even better! King bed, windows on two sides because we were on the corner. Lots of light, great view of Seymour Street. Not as loud as I anticipated, but I sleep with earplugs always.

We didn’t spend much time at the hotel, but the cleaners were super courteous. Making sure we had all the coffee pods and fixings we needed. Extra towels were easy to get. The bathroom was spotless, and had a window that opened.

My only complaint was that the heat was tough to manage, but we found leaving the bathroom window open, with the door closed offered enough cooling from under the door that the room stayed a decent temperature.
