The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and the room was not ready, but we were allowed to park our car early in the parking lot next building ($14 per night). The parking area that’s designated for the hotel guests is gated, so we felt safe to keep our car there. The room was small, which was okay, but it did not give out a fresh, clean feeling. The bathroom had a funky smell and there was hair in the sink and on the toilet when we first walked in (yuck). Also, the AC was not working, but the hotel provided a fan. The room was cool with the window open, but it was very loud at night since the room was facing a busy street. Even with these issues, we might stay here again in the future because the location was great (very close to shops and restaurants), as well as good parking option.

Very small-ish hotel that is in the center of town, a rather easy walk to the cruise pier (not with luggage though). Problem when we were there was the AC had broken and was not going to be fixed for at least as long as we were there (2 nights). Not a real problem as the windows open, but we were streetside and the garbage truck came at like 12:30 one night and a delivery was made at like 11:00 the next night. It was clean and ok for the price.

We spent 4 night in this hotel and couldn’t wait to leave. Not to well maintained, air conditioning in the whole hotel didn’t work for our whole stay. Lift REALLY slow. Breakfast service very slow. The bar lady, tall girl from dutch extraction outstanding. Very noisy corner

Our Room did have an A/C unit in the room which kept the room a nice temp. The location was great and parking was secure across the street in a garage. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel was great but I did find Vancouver to be dirty. Trash on the sidewalks and streets. Some areas smelled of urine…
The Steam Clock in Gastown is a must see on the hour. It plays the Westminster Quarters and blows smoke on the hour. Cool Show.

First of all, this is a very small, boutique-type hotel. My guess is, it’s privately owned. Second, the staff is WONDERFUL. They were all so helpful and kind. The place looks as though it’s been fairly recently renovated. The original building is very old… probably historic.

When we arrived, the front desk clerk immediately informed us that there had been no A/C for a week. Apparently, they were having work done on it, but they didn’t anticipate having it for yet another week. They offered us a 20% discount on an already excellent rate if we’d go ahead and stay. Since it was only one night, we accepted.

Our room was on the second floor and was quite adequate. There was a very nice computerized safe for our belongings and fortunately, we were able to open the windows. Everything was clean as a whistle, aside from one small patch on the bathroom ceiling that looked as though there had been a leak and it was starting to mold.

Sadly, this hotel appears to be rather near a questionable part of town. Also, there is a bar attached to it. Because we had to open the windows, it took us awhile to get to sleep, since it was a Friday night and people were partying two stories below. We were really tired, and eventually got to sleep, despite a lot of outside city noise that went on all night long. The beds were very nice.

Because I booked through Orbitz, the front desk staff said they’d have to contact Orbitz for my 20% off refund. I have to say in the defense of the hotel that our refund happened within two or three days after our stay. I was really impressed with their integrity.

If I ever returned to Vancouver for a short stay, I would consider this hotel again. Hopefully, their A/C would be fixed!

This hotel was exactly what I needed on my recent trip to Vancouver. Located in Yaletown, there was not a shortage of places to eat or things to do. The hotel was a bit small, but hey, you are in Vancouver! If you are hanging out in your hotel room all day/night, you are doing it wrong. Cool little wine bar in the building and a small market just up the street. Really, the perfect stay!

Moda is not a 5 star hotel but for the price and the location it is really good value. Stayed there twice staff are helpful rooms a re clean and the Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel has really good food

We stayed in room on 3rd floor for 2 nights. Room with large bed, clean and comfortable. how every the wifi wasn’t not good. The hotel has great location with many restaurants, bars nearby. The city station is walking distance. Staff was so nice and pleasant. We recommend this hotel for anyone.

Arrived and was quickly checked in. The room was functional with a large bed with room to move around. The room comes with a safe, coffee machine, iron and ironing board, a range of complimentary toiliteries, hairdryer and fridge. At the end of our corridor was a room with an ice machine, microwave, desktop computer and shredder which was always available. We used the computer to print out our boarding passes for our next flight. We used the restaurant for breakfast at a flat rate of $15 per person. There was a good selection and the food which was cooked and presented very well with excellent service. The hotel is in a good location and has the benefit of a wine bar and sports bar attached. Although the building itself is old you would never know from its interior. Very modern and well presented. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May. The hotel is fantastically located. You can walk to most locations from here, easily hail a cab or jump on the metro with ease. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and was clean.
The decor was a little dated -carpets and paint work could do with updating.
But overall a very good hotel to stay in. There is a great bar downstairs and no noise from this late at night.

The hotel is reasonably priced for a downtown hotel and is located within walking distance to many areas. The rooms and elevators are small. Beds were comfortable and employees helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was very good for breakfast

Ideally situated for easy walking to all of Vancouvers attractions ,we used this hotel as a stop over before our Alaskan cruise .It was built in 1918 so don’t expect modern just friendly staff and on site bar and restaurant that are good

This was my first time staying at the Moda hotel. I am usually one to book at a hotel chain or more well known hotels, but decided to give the Moda a try. What a pleasant surprise! We got a great deal with free parking and free breakfast, which is normally not included. Not only was it a nice, chic, friendly place, but the location was great, close to downtown shopping and the Rogers arena was only a 10 minute walk. The free wi-fi was decent, (I usually hate hotel wi-fi). The rooms were fairly small, (which we expected) but were newly renovated and nicely furnished. There is a nice little wine and cocktail bar which we had a chance to enjoy and we enjoyed our free breakfast in the restaurant both mornings.

We stayed in the room right next to the room we’d been in prior but this one was even better! King bed, windows on two sides because we were on the corner. Lots of light, great view of Seymour Street. Not as loud as I anticipated, but I sleep with earplugs always.

We didn’t spend much time at the hotel, but the cleaners were super courteous. Making sure we had all the coffee pods and fixings we needed. Extra towels were easy to get. The bathroom was spotless, and had a window that opened.

My only complaint was that the heat was tough to manage, but we found leaving the bathroom window open, with the door closed offered enough cooling from under the door that the room stayed a decent temperature.

This might sound like a convenient well priced stay but in my book this is quite a sub par hotel compared to what else is around for the same money.
I wasn’t impressed with much when it came to this hotel as a whole.
The staff were perhaps its only saving grace, whom I will note as being helpful and friendly but the room I had was dark, tired and to put it bluntly quite small.
The hotel is nicely located with access to downtown, Yaletown was only a short walk away (5-10mins) but the rooms were dark, wifi slow, it has only one lift and it operated at turtle pace, outdated tv’s, beds uncomfortable, cheap linen and the hotels general decor tired/old.
If you do not have any other options than I guess this is your stay but I would look elsewhere for a little bit extra.

We really enjoyed this hotel! It was conveniently located – just a couple of blocks from the theater district and 15 minutes walking to the marina and park along the water. The room was modern and the beds were comfortable. Our four-night stay included daily breakfast at the Cibo Trattoria restaurant next door and parking on the 5th floor of the gated parking garage about 150 feet from the hotel. There is also the Uva wine bar next door on the other side of the hotel. Nestor’s grocery store was less than a block away. Even though our room was located on the 3rd floor of the hotel on the corner of Smithe and Seymour Streets, the windows did a pretty good job of keeping the noise out.

Good location for downtown Vancouver
About 15 mins walk to the subway station and 5 mins walk to the bus stations
Lots of good places to eat within 5 minutes walk
Hotel is well renovated and looks modern, but is clearly in a very old building
The lift is really old and small, and very slow
The bathroom was freezing and the tiles suck the heat out. We did visit in winter though. Room is warm enough with the heater going.
Not too bad for the price.

The convenient and inexpensive parking is this hotel’s best quality. The room rates are inexpensive but probably not a good value. The location is good if you are there for an nearby entertainment venue and plan to get wasted and walk the streets howling all night like your fellow revelers. Otherwise, budget hotels in other neighborhoods would be a better choice. During the day, the area is populated by business people, service workers, street people and a few tourists. At night, the street people and tourists mix with people seeking city nightlife attracted by a low-end and a few high-end cocktail lounges and bars. A liquor store in the building is both convenient for guests, and due to being a rarity in the city, an attractant anyone who wants to get drunk and hang out on the nearby streets. Strangely, the property has a first class cocktail lounge, Uva, attached. The vibe and artfully prepared drinks are as good as it gets. Downside, four drinks can cost as much as the the room rate. If you want to enjoy a splurge at Uva, best to stay somewhere else.
Booked this for a one night stay while attending a show at a nearby venue.

The location and value of this hotel if great. The room is average. It was clean and had all that was needed for a single night stay. The room is small but again is good if you are just using it to sleep. The staff was pretty friendly.

nice and central location. average as I would expect a 3 stars to be. Small room and small and old bathroom. Was just ok for 2 nights.
I did not have breakfast there so I can’t evaluate. Was very well located and that was the reason for my choice.

I just spent two nights at Moda for business travel. First the pros: friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast @ Cibo, cool room with character, great location that is walking distance to everything, good rate. Now the cons: the elevator is currently out of commission for over a month (however, management nicely comped our breakfast when we approached them), my second-floor room was quite loud at night as it was right over the bar downstairs and the hotel lacks a gym (which many boutique hotels do so that was less of a biggie). As a side-note, I also had a ‘visitor’ in my room. A few rooms on the second floor have experienced ghostly happenings. In my case, it was a bedside drawer that kept opening on its own when i wasn’t in the room. If you believe in this type of thing, it was not a benevolent type of experience, more just a playful, poltergeist type of event. (I feel weird writing this last sentence because i’ve never had this type of thing happen to me but it happened!). Others in our group had strange feelings too but no sightings of anything. If you’re into it (or not!), apparently rooms 223 and 227 are the ones that have ghosts (I was in 227).

I’ve really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend the Moda Hotel to my friends and business partners. Excellent and friendly. Well located in downtown Vancouver. Lots of shopping close by and easy access to transit system.

I like the Moda, it’s convenient, not overly expensive, and is located in a very central location in downtown Vancouver. Stayed there on the return from a Skiing trip to Whistler, and the Whistler shuttle drops off at the Clarion Budget hotel, which is around the corner and down the block from the Moda. This time, I will be staying there before heading up to Whistler.

A very chic ,modern hotel in the centre of the city. I Stayed only for one night, but the experience was totally positive. Very pleasant stuff and a really good restaurant. I would definately book again ,if I was going to Vancouver!

+ Amazing location!
+ Safe
+ Small fridge
+ Coffee machine
+ Restaurants downstairs (good price and food)
– However, we had one of the worst internet experienced until we asked to reset the router.
– Very weird blankets and hard beds, uncomfortable pillows
– View from the window on the dirty back alley which is not very pleasing in the morning 🙁
– The heater heats for 10-15 minutes and then starts to cool for some reason

Only reason I can’t give the hotel an Excellent is because there were no HD tv channels (it’s 2016?) and the wifi was useless. Otherwise we rather enjoyed our stay. I recommend getting a Moda suite. Room was spotless. Ours was on the third floor. Never had to wait for the elevator like other reviews mentioned. Never heard a peep from other rooms. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay again

This place is beautiful, a little older but really nice. Exactly what we needed. They upgraded our room with no problem at all and are completely accommodating. Our view (back alley) Is the only downside but we don’t plan on spending lots of time in the room. This is well worth it.
