Ramada Downtown Vancouver Granville

This hotel is barely downtown it’s not walking distance to anything. It’s on Granville which I have now learned is a very dirty and unsafe street full of drifters, drug addicts, prostitutes and bars. There is a bar right beside the hotel that keeps their music cranked until 330 in the morning so don’t count on getting any sleep. When I stayed here the fire alarm was also broken and went off 3 times through the night. They charge $18 extra for valet parking as their parking lot is a complete joke and only fits about 20 cars. There are lots less than a block away that charge half or less the amount they do for parking. When we arrived the front of the hotel smelled like urine as someone had urinated on the street directly outside the front door. This is not a part of town to bring your kids. The free breakfast is at the bar beside the hotel, a run down hole with terrible staff. You can have eggs or pancakes. Toast with no butter and serve yourself warm tap water to drink. DO NOT touch the fruit or juice!

Just your regular downtown hotel. Nothing fancy but clean and friendly service. Close to the city center, no car or transportation needed. Valet parking $18,45 a day which is normal for Vancouver. Rooms okay air conditioning etc. Breakfast not included but possible at $10.

The hotel is shabby and not in the best part of downtown. The club next door is loud and has a crazy vibe. There are quite a few homeless people around. Gas town and the waterfront aren’t really in walking distance.

Hey, if you don’t want to break the bank and you plan to spend more time outside than in, this is the hotel for you.

The first room I was allocated had a window – the “view” was a lightwell of maybe 1-2 meters and faced another window. I would have liked to know that in advance.
After a long flight I wanted to take a shower – however, the 2 trickles that came out of the showerhead did not merit the name “shower”. I called the front desk and asked for a different room. The gentleman told me he would call me right back. He did not. 30 minutes later I was at the front desk and was eventually allocated a new room.
All other personnell were very helpful and friendly.
The location of the hotel is great.

I live in the condo directly behind the hotel which overlooks it and wanted to provide some guidance for those that are staying. The back of the hotel in the alley is a popular place for drug users/dealers. As a result cars parked in the narrow parking lot between the hotel and the Scotia dance theater are often scoped out for valuables (usually very early in the morning). I have actually stopped one vehicular b&e in progress. I would recommend not parking in this alley if possible. If you do park here do NOT leave any valuables in plain sight in your vehicle.

The location is really good though it might seem a bit seedy at the beginning but we felt really safe. There are many taxis usually outside the hotel, and the hop on hop off bus stops near the hotel. You leave the hotel, turn right and then left, 10 minute walk and you are in the heart of the town. Leave the hotel, turn right and then right again and you are on your way to beautiful Granville, actually one of my favorite areas in Vancouver. The staff is very helpful with directions. Breakfast is in White Spot, a Canadian version of Denny’s perhaps a bit more upscale. They have very good choices on the menu, or you can have breakfast in one the restaurants nearby, and there are many.
I would stay again in the hotel for the comfort and the location.

Beautiful rooms and facilities in this totally redone hotel. The roof top gardens are a treat and so is the fully appointed kitchen too. Great service and tips on how and where to see the sites. I’d go there again in a flash.

The hotel itself isn’t really that fancy, but for the price in downtown Vancouver, its not that awful. The elevator takes an engineering degree to figure out because sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not Then, sometimes you don’t need your room key, sometimes you do. At least in my case it did 🙂 The room was adequate, nothing too fancy. The bed was comfortable and fairly large. The one area that could really be improved, but would be hard to figure out is parking. When you arrive for check-in, trying to find somewhere to park is the wildest adventure. I ended up looping around the block like 8 times because they have no available street parking, usually. They also don’t have anywhere to park near the front. I eventually just watched a taxi pull up on the sidewalk to the front door to let someone out. I followed suit and just parked up on the sidewalk ramp, checked-in, was given the parking garage key, and went from there.

Handy downtown location so it’s within walking distance to most sightseeing points of interest. Dooleys Irish bar next door had great food & live music both nights we were there. It also provides an amazing comprehensive cooked breakfast for just $10pp (great value)
Reception staff are friendly & helpful.
Room was clean with lovely comfy beds.
Would stay here again as we thought it was good value for money.

The hotel is in the center of Vancouver downtown. Everything you want to see is within walking distance. The rooms are nice clean and spacy. Good wifi! Friendly staff.
We enjoyed the nice Irish Pub that is in the same building.
Highly recommendable for a Vancouver downtown visit.

Stayed one night in Vancouver before boarding a ship for an Alaskan cruise. The location was about 1/2 mile (10 minute walk) to the port. However, it is a bit of a hill so we didn’t think walking there with luggage was the best idea, especially since it looked like it might rain. There were four of us in 1 room. We booked 2 queen beds and a sofa bed specifically because there were 4 of us. When we checked in, the front desk charged us extra for the two others (our kids). Why have a room that sleeps 4 to six if you’re gonna charge extra if you use all the beds? Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but they couldn’t do anything about the extra charge. Room was clean and comfy.

This is our 2nd time here and you can’t go wrong . Nice restaurant and lounge ( outside seating also ) , good food and enough to fill you , blocks from shopping , Yale Town , sea bus to Granville Island , BC Place is a 10 minute walk , Gastown , Stanley Park and everything else can be reached with a 5-10 minute cab if needed .
Staff here is great and friendly , there is underground parking we used here which runs at about $20 a day and is gated and we found very safe . We also asked for a higher up room this time and they put us on the 15th floor which gave us a great view . Rooms are spacious and they come with a balcony which is awesome !! We will go back again for sure

Rooms are functional and clean but as the building with no charm at all. Zippo.

Food for breakfast is quite good. Size are large and get u ready for a good day in the city. Service variable as some waiters are super nice and others rather functional.

Drew the concierge is a star! He makes the place really good.

Location is central if u want to visit downtown vancouver. Rates are good compared to the old harbour.

Very nice hotel. It is within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There is no complimentary breakfast like you would expect at most Best Westerns which is a drawback. Otherwise I would highly recommend.

Whilst this hotel is “downtown”, it’s not in the nicest of areas. If you get a room Granville side you may as well sleep in the street as the sound proofing is poor. Aircon is good but the unit is enormous, old and noisy. Overall the hotel needs modernising and a facelift.

We checked in around 9:00pm on a Thursday night for a two night stay. First night we got to the room to go to bed after traveling all day and found that the sheets had not been changed on the bed. Sheets were wrinkled and there was black fuzz on the bed from someone’s sox. I was too tired to complain and had the sheets changed the next morning.

THEN, about 9:00pm on Friday night a DJ started playing at the club next door. Our room literally rattled until 2:00am. I travel a lot and this was literally one of the worst hotel stays ever.

The staff was courteous, but basically helpless about these problems

Chose this hotel due to its proximity to the port (Canada Place). Rooms were decent sized, clean, had the standard amenities, but quite dated. Wifi service was complimentary and pretty strong. Breakfast was non-descript and the breakfast area sad looking. Coffee was your usual watered down coffee. At least they had bagels and cream cheese Location was okay, near enough the port

The staff though were quite helpful with our luggage and hailing taxi cabs.

We stayed here for 4 nights this month. Other than the smell of urine in the hallway this was a good stay. The room was clean. The highlight of this place was Zuzanna who was very attentive to our needs, and even went above and beyond. Thanks for everything Zuzanna!

Vancouver was pretty jammed so this was our last option. It’s a great location on Granville st, although the natives get pretty rowdy after dark and the smell of weed is evident. There are a large number of homeless people in the area – the most we’ve seen packed into one location. The hotel was pretty poor. Plumbing was bad, our room had the worst shower we’ve encountered. Pipes all over the place. There was a horrible smell in the corridor. The room size was ok, and it was fairly clean although they kept forgetting to change the dirty cups and put more coffee in. We would definitely not stay there again. Sleeping in the car is a much better option.

stayed for 3 nights but disappointed they charged different day rates for the same very average room. Distinct unpleasant odour in room on arrival which only went when very noisy air con on. On top floor so not too noisy, but rooms in need of an update. Front reception staff friendly and helpful.

Wanted to book one night at weekend but would only take a 2 night booking even at late notice.

What won us to this place was a free parking promotion they were running in March when we booked for July. It didn’t disappoint, though. We’re right in the heart of the city, with easy access to everything we wanted to do (Stanley Park, Granville Island) by bus.

The hot tub in the Penthouse is lovely. Our room was clean, and surprisingly quiet for being right in the heart of Vancouver. Now, we were on the 8th floor, so I’m not sure if that would have been true on or nearer to the ground.

On the Penthouse as well, there’s a full service kitchen (you may want to bring your own forks — they only had two!) that we didn’t know about when booking, but we were thrilled to find! We cooked our dinners in there each night and saved a pile of money that way! There’s also a little rooftop terrace with a great view of the city from 12 floors up right off the kitchen.

We even discovered that there’s a common use ping pong table in the lobby area on our last night there! Cool!

The only thing I will say that was a bit disappointing was that it was difficult to unload luggage from the parking garage, as the elevator starts at parking level 1 and there are only stairs up from level 2. Also, having to use keys EVERYWHERE (even on the elevator to be able to push the buttons) was a little annoying, especially since our key cards magnetized several times and we had to keep replacing them. These things would certainly not stop me from staying here again, though!

We stayed in July 2017. The rooms were nothing special – I’d even say below average towels, bathroom amenities etc. But the Wifi was good, front desk staff very helpful and parking is available. The area is just a short walk and ferry ride to Granville Island. grocery store just a few blocks away. HotTub is tiny (2 people max). beds/pillows are average to below-average.

If your Vancouver stay will include Stanley Park, Nightlife (Gastown, Yaletown) and Granville Island – great place to stay. If your plans include items NORTH like Capilano, Grouse Mtn, Whistler etc, then you may want to stay north of the Lions Gate bridge. This bridge is bumper-to-bumper every day. Morning and Evening.

This hotel is well located, walking distance of main streets, public transit and restaurants. The room was tiny, but very clean, comfortable and quiet for one night stay. The check-in and check-out process was quick and efficient.

This hotel is situated in a great location. A walk to the entertainment area, bars and restaurants, including an Irish Pub next door. But I wouldn’t recommend it for any more than one night.
The room itself is quite comfortable and modern, the bed is comfortable and bathroom works, however I really don’t understand why there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, there’s not even a fridge to hold a bottle of water. There’s also no laundry to wash your clothes. So the ‘comfort’ levels actually plummeted for me.
There are loads of other hotels in the district, I would suggest exploring these before settling here.
Disappointing for an international traveller. This is more geared for your overnight stayers. Luckily there is a Tim Hortons across the road. Looking forward to my next leg.

We wanted to stay in downtown Vancouver without breaking the budget. This hotel met that criteria, clean and comfortable but otherwise average. The furniture in the room and bathroom was a bit tired, but the room included a fridge and safe. Breakfast was good except for the coffee which was weak. Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Best feature was that we could walk to Yaletown and Gastown restaurants, and to the Granville Island Market.

Enjoyed my stay in such a prime location, a walk down Granville street to some great restaurants. Went out on the town and enjoyed a night of dancing. Further down the street is Robson where there are so many places to shop.

Helpful and accommodating staff! Delicious breakfast, great location, not far from port to board cruise lines, walking distance to many restaurants and bars, Highly recommend! We had 18 family members ages from 13 months to 77 years,

I primarily travel for business, I always find the staff and service at the Chateau Granville Exceptional, and the location is very convenient. The facility is older but well maintained and the staff are well informed.

Good location Hotel with Average Quality Overall, The amount being paid for the breakfast was supposed to be for the full room, but at the end some Coupons were given for the adults Only with very limited choice of breakfast items in a small restaurant. The Elevators were very slow and couldn’t support the guests. In overall and expensive stay but with an average quality.
