Howard Johnson Downtown Vancouver

We stayed here for 4 nights this month. Other than the smell of urine in the hallway this was a good stay. The room was clean. The highlight of this place was Zuzanna who was very attentive to our needs, and even went above and beyond. Thanks for everything Zuzanna!

Vancouver was pretty jammed so this was our last option. It’s a great location on Granville st, although the natives get pretty rowdy after dark and the smell of weed is evident. There are a large number of homeless people in the area – the most we’ve seen packed into one location. The hotel was pretty poor. Plumbing was bad, our room had the worst shower we’ve encountered. Pipes all over the place. There was a horrible smell in the corridor. The room size was ok, and it was fairly clean although they kept forgetting to change the dirty cups and put more coffee in. We would definitely not stay there again. Sleeping in the car is a much better option.

stayed for 3 nights but disappointed they charged different day rates for the same very average room. Distinct unpleasant odour in room on arrival which only went when very noisy air con on. On top floor so not too noisy, but rooms in need of an update. Front reception staff friendly and helpful.

Wanted to book one night at weekend but would only take a 2 night booking even at late notice.

What won us to this place was a free parking promotion they were running in March when we booked for July. It didn’t disappoint, though. We’re right in the heart of the city, with easy access to everything we wanted to do (Stanley Park, Granville Island) by bus.

The hot tub in the Penthouse is lovely. Our room was clean, and surprisingly quiet for being right in the heart of Vancouver. Now, we were on the 8th floor, so I’m not sure if that would have been true on or nearer to the ground.

On the Penthouse as well, there’s a full service kitchen (you may want to bring your own forks — they only had two!) that we didn’t know about when booking, but we were thrilled to find! We cooked our dinners in there each night and saved a pile of money that way! There’s also a little rooftop terrace with a great view of the city from 12 floors up right off the kitchen.

We even discovered that there’s a common use ping pong table in the lobby area on our last night there! Cool!

The only thing I will say that was a bit disappointing was that it was difficult to unload luggage from the parking garage, as the elevator starts at parking level 1 and there are only stairs up from level 2. Also, having to use keys EVERYWHERE (even on the elevator to be able to push the buttons) was a little annoying, especially since our key cards magnetized several times and we had to keep replacing them. These things would certainly not stop me from staying here again, though!

We stayed in July 2017. The rooms were nothing special – I’d even say below average towels, bathroom amenities etc. But the Wifi was good, front desk staff very helpful and parking is available. The area is just a short walk and ferry ride to Granville Island. grocery store just a few blocks away. HotTub is tiny (2 people max). beds/pillows are average to below-average.

If your Vancouver stay will include Stanley Park, Nightlife (Gastown, Yaletown) and Granville Island – great place to stay. If your plans include items NORTH like Capilano, Grouse Mtn, Whistler etc, then you may want to stay north of the Lions Gate bridge. This bridge is bumper-to-bumper every day. Morning and Evening.

Comfort Inn Downtown Vancouver

This hotel is well located, walking distance of main streets, public transit and restaurants. The room was tiny, but very clean, comfortable and quiet for one night stay. The check-in and check-out process was quick and efficient.

This hotel is situated in a great location. A walk to the entertainment area, bars and restaurants, including an Irish Pub next door. But I wouldn’t recommend it for any more than one night.
The room itself is quite comfortable and modern, the bed is comfortable and bathroom works, however I really don’t understand why there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, there’s not even a fridge to hold a bottle of water. There’s also no laundry to wash your clothes. So the ‘comfort’ levels actually plummeted for me.
There are loads of other hotels in the district, I would suggest exploring these before settling here.
Disappointing for an international traveller. This is more geared for your overnight stayers. Luckily there is a Tim Hortons across the road. Looking forward to my next leg.

We wanted to stay in downtown Vancouver without breaking the budget. This hotel met that criteria, clean and comfortable but otherwise average. The furniture in the room and bathroom was a bit tired, but the room included a fridge and safe. Breakfast was good except for the coffee which was weak. Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Best feature was that we could walk to Yaletown and Gastown restaurants, and to the Granville Island Market.

Best Western Chateau Granville Hotel Vancouver

Enjoyed my stay in such a prime location, a walk down Granville street to some great restaurants. Went out on the town and enjoyed a night of dancing. Further down the street is Robson where there are so many places to shop.

Helpful and accommodating staff! Delicious breakfast, great location, not far from port to board cruise lines, walking distance to many restaurants and bars, Highly recommend! We had 18 family members ages from 13 months to 77 years,

I primarily travel for business, I always find the staff and service at the Chateau Granville Exceptional, and the location is very convenient. The facility is older but well maintained and the staff are well informed.

Good location Hotel with Average Quality Overall, The amount being paid for the breakfast was supposed to be for the full room, but at the end some Coupons were given for the adults Only with very limited choice of breakfast items in a small restaurant. The Elevators were very slow and couldn’t support the guests. In overall and expensive stay but with an average quality.

Ramada Downtown Vancouver Granville

Good location BUT very noisy with night club booming through room till 3am. No sleep! Couldn’t be moved to quieter floor on request as hotel full. I would NOT recommend! Staff told me the night club couldn’t be heard on my floor but it was like being in the middle of the night club! Do not stay here if you are looking for a quiet hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at Ramada this is a great location and the staff was very knowledgeable of the area.

My first impression on arriving at the lobby was that the hotel looked a little dated, not helped by the fact that rooms didn’t seem to be ready on time. However, the rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The area the hotel is situated in isn’t great, a lot of homeless people begging right outside the hotel lobby. Not far from Granville Island and downtown.

The hotel is right on the boarder for areas that you would be careful with your walking. The hotel and staff are really great. Always greeting you upon arrival, helpful to find something and they offer Valet parking, just stop your car in front of the hotel and they take it from there.

Stayed here on a business trip for 3 nights.arrived here in the early hours of the morning to find the club which is attached to the hotel packed. The rooms were tired and had seen better days. The night receptionist was unhelpful in the extreme. The day receptions were very helpful indeed.the location is in the centre of the club area. If I’d of wanted a low cost location to crash after partying the night away this would have been fine. It was not great for a business trip. There were loads of homeless people in Vancouver but I didn’t feel unsafe. Surprisingly I felt more unsafe in the hotel which had a variety of guests in various states and degrees of intoxication. On the bright side there was free wifi in the room. The bright spot was Vancouver itself – a wonderful, vibrant city which I will review separately as it has a lot to offer. In summary, a ropy hotel which I wouldn’t stay in again but a fab city. I will be back Vancouver!

Beware this hotel will get you on parking. I asked the gentlemen where I could find parking around there. He told me where to go and never said anything nor were there any signs that said anything about parking being $22 a day. I paid less for the room. It wasn’t until the night before i checked out that I found out there was a parking fee. I immediately moved my car. After being called a liar by the dayshift concierge who was not even there when this guy forgot to mention the parking thats when I gave up. Hotel is on the way cheaper side but again remember you will be paying $22 a day for parking here. There’s a lot two blocks down and side to the right where you can get packing free during the day and $1 an hour at night. Comes out to $8 a day Canadian.

We stayed in a two double beds room with microwave, fridge, coffee maker and water boiler. It was very convenient as the breakfast is not included so we could have some food in the morning without leaving the hotel. There is a White Spot restaurant at the hotel and gives 10% discount for hotel guests.
The room is spacious and clean. We had everything we needed for a nice stay, if you like walking everything is at walking distance. Very close to Yaletown, about 30 minutes walk to Telus World of Science, Waterfront, Granville Island, etc.
Granville Street is not a nice area, there are many closed stores, many homeless people and feels decadent. You can get to the hotel through parallel streets though, they are much nicer and feels safer

This apartment stay is comfortable with a restaurant next to the lobby. My room has a microwave and coffee making facilities. It’s about 15 mins down Granville Street to downtown Hudson Bay and department stores and lots of food trucks along the way, so it’s suitably situated. The advice for the shower is turn the tap all the way around then back to get the right temperature.
Stayed at GEC from Thursday to Sunday Local traveller downtown Vancouver for weekend convention. Front desk staff are very friendly. Rooms recently renovated. Clean and spacious. Convenient free parking and great location close to everything in downtown Vancouver!

Comfortable room with good bed. Excellent buffet breakfast included. Free WiFi. Lots of eating houses nearby. Friendly staff.

Access to reception, from the street, is up a set of stairs, making it very difficult with heavy suitcases.

This hotel location exceeded expectations we were able to walk most places after a tour of the city by the hop on hop off bus. Staff were very very good. Cons, very poor wifi, Granville St is full of beggars and people doing deals after hours. Apart from that we were able to walk everywhere except China town which is in a shocking state.
Near Granville Street and a couple of blocks away from the Skytrain station. Conveniently located near restaurants, grocery stores, Robson Street, in the entertainment district. At the main entrance, you will be met with automatic doors, which is a plus if your hands are full. Then you have to navigate about 4 or 5 steps to the reception, so not a plus if you have a lot of luggage. I booked with an ”Elevator” special, meaning the sole elevator was not functioning-not a big deal since I was put up on the second floor and only had carry-on baggage. A very reasonable rate considering this is in downtown,
Upon checking in, I was offered a glass of wine. A nice touch.
The room had two double beds and the usual amenities including an umbrella (always handy for Vancouver weather) and a choice of pillows. The hotel is a bit old and could use some updating. The bed was super comfy. Unfortunately, my room was on the Granville Street side right up from the pub/bar downstairs. They blast their music until 2 to 3 am which was extremely annoying so I couldn’t really take advantage of the comfy bed. I could also hear my neighbor walk and bang the doors. The hotel could use better soundproofing.
Checking out was a breeze, with the lady at the reception ordered me a taxi (she remembered that I had asked about 2 hours earlier) which came within one minute.
I would only stay here again if the room location was quieter.

It is downtown so most places are close by. It is also close to the ratty part of downtown with shuttered stores and junkies sleeping in the street. Nightclubs causing noise till 3 am could be heard in spite of being put on the 3rd floor, however this did not affect my sleep as it was muffled. If you are sensitive this may cause you problems. Rooms are on the smaller side probably due to it being older. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

We booked the room for a single night and was completely thrown off that you need to go to the alley in order to get to their parking. Once inside, the front desk staff wasn’t friendly and was almost offended that there were people checking in. Wasn’t aware you need to pay for a valet parking.
Once we were checked in and found our room, the room looks really dirty. The room didn’t look like the photos; carpet was dirty, and the room had a disgusting smell. For the amount of money we paid for, over three hundred sixty American dollars, we expected to be more upper class. However, we were completely thrown off by it.
The place is loud at night, due to the club directly next to it. The music was so loud you can feel the bass rambling on the windows and walls. It lasted til 3 am and we couldn’t get any sleep.
We choose to pay with continental breakfast, and were given the breakfast voucher to use. We went into the restaurant next door and were completely in surprise. The waitress wasn’t friendly, and we didn’t know the voucher wasn’t part of the breakfast bar. She was rude and told us to go. We went back to the front desk and the dudes behind the reception desk didn’t know what was going on. My wife was so mad, we didn’t get any breakfast for my three children.
Outside of the hotel, there are homeless people around and the location isn’t safe. If we had known this beforehand, we wouldn’t even choose that hotel. Learned firsthand, and totally regret staying there. Made our trip to Vancouver a bad experience.
Just a warning to anyone else that is thinking of staying here, please look else where. You’ll regret just like we did and would never stay in another Ramada again.

While the immediate area can be noisy at night and has a few street people, we were very happy overall.
Reception staff, especially Monika, were attentive and friendly.
Rooms are clean and adequate.
Good value and a good breakfast in Wings Restaurant.

Spent 22 days in here as my rental wasn’t ready, reception was a bit suspicious at first when I did not have a credit card, but it all got sorted.

Overall, reception/manager were polite and friendly throughout my stay house keeping – very efficient and considerate.
Room was always tidy, clean.

Always found laundry open and clean.

Wish it had a mini fridge but that’s mainly due to my long stay.
Internet is a bit unstable but so is with any hotel.

Considering Vancouver prices and location, I believe you get what you pay for, that it’s a great value for your money.

This is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Our first night it was very noisy on the road outside and the next morning they kindly changed our room and we had a very quiet peaceful night. Excellent location. We could walk everywhere.
