My husband and I visited the Moda Hotel early in November. We had our ideas of what we wanted for accommodations as we have stayed at the Sheraton Wall before, and that was a great experience but a little pricey this time around. As neither of us are looking for much more than a place to sleep and stop between excursions around the city – we aren’t super picky about things like a one mm crack in a tile or an elevator that wasn’t top speed. The room was perfect for the stop/go travel we had. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived after midnight. It was nice to stay in a place that obviously had a bit of history and a lot of life left in it. The bars seemed to be popular, and the wine store had a pretty spectacular selection. We didn’t end up eating at the restaurant – because there are truly so many more things to do and on our budget, we wanted to max out our time exploring the city. It’s very close to Granville street, where we were able to find our choice of coffee places and bars and shopping in our flavour. The hotel room itself was small – but for two people, you don’t need the unused space. Our room was cleaned daily and the windows were cracked for us just enough to get some fresh air circulated. If you’re the type that needs to plug in all 30 devices – you may need to unplug a lamp or two for recharging, or just not worry about it. We will be back to Vancouver, and will definitely stay here! We didn’t drive so didn’t need to access parking, but taxi and transit and skytrain are all within walking distance. So is Japadog – highly recommend checking it out if you’re into gourmet-style hotdogs. No complaints, the price was right, and I’ll be back!!
