My family and I (hubby, daughters 10 and 13) stayed at the Westin Bayshore for two nights in the Tower Suite with the King and Murphy Bed. Yeah…don’t do that. The suite has a huge, heavy couch in front of the Murphy Bed and furniture has to be reconfigured in the room to even use it. Still, when we arrived at the hotel we were promptly greeted by concierge. The gentlemen in concierge are really pretty great and I must say, they were the absolute best thing about our stay. After our concierge greeting and assistance with luggage, we made our way to the front desk. It was pretty early in the day and our room was not ready. After being told there was an indoor pool, we went in search of all the pools for my youngest daughters’ sake who was looking forward to swimming. I must say that we are a “minority” family who travel quite frequently but we were unprepared for all the ganders and glances of mostly the staff. I approached one of the restaurant managers who was also a minority to determine the location of the indoor pool and I was promptly told, “This outdoor pool is the only pool we have.” I could not help but feel like that was his way of shooing me out of the hotel because he maybe thought I was not staying there. Still we continued our walk about and we were very impressed with the facility. Check-in time is 3:00 pm so at 3:05 I was pretty sure our room would be ready. No such luck. The front desk attendant gave us Starbucks coffee vouchers and told us that our room was large and it takes a bit of time to clean. That did not sit well with my hubby. Since our arrival I was told that they would text when our room was ready. They never did and at 3:33, I approached the front desk again. We were finally told our room was ready and were given our keys. We proceeded to the room and while the view was gorgeous and the rooms were spacious, the furniture arrangement did not make sense given our needs and the description of a Murphy bed which was inaccessible. Unfortunately, the bathroom off the bedroom was handicap accessible which certainly was not my request and my reservation was made 3 months in advance. So, not sure what happened there but a very minor detail.
The food at the restaurant was really good although quite expensive. The beds were comfy and everything was clean. Housekeeping was really polite and helpful as well. The hotel really is nicely done and overall we enjoyed our stay, location and even the two swimming pools. There is a grocery store (Safeway) in walking distance to the hotel, as well as, a good amount of restaurants. Vancouver is a lovely, unique destination. The Westin Bayshore, however, assistance needed with “soft skills” and accommodations for families
We stayed here Canada Day for a week and it was just amazing. Brian FD Manager was kind and friendly, offered complimentary upgrade. We booked Harbour view room over looking Canada Day fireworks..view was awesome.
Location was perfect, we used complimentary bikes and rode to Stanley Park every morning. We walked the entire week, so close to everything..seawall, restaurants, grocs…shopping.
The best part..the amazing beautiful pool..we spent many sunny hot days in this wonderful oasis. We had breakfast outside on the deck by the pool..beautiful little treed park like area…loved it. Peach berry french toast was to die for.
Definitely vacationing here again
