CAPA said the Vancouver Airport also has been a leader on the technology and environmental fronts. Last year the airport received an innovation award from CAPA for its BORDERXPRESS Automated Control Kiosks, which has reduced waiting times by more than 50% and is now in use at 32 airports across North America and the Caribbean.
Some of the highlights implemented and offered at YVR include a 32% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per passenger over the last decade and is the first airport to secure a salmon safe certification, highlighting its commitment to protect water quality and aquatic life.
Award Winning Art and Architecture
A stunning west coast-themed international departure area, and almost unanimous customer satisfaction reports (91 per cent), YVR features the largest Northwest Coast Native art collection in the world and two satellite Vancouver Aquarium exhibits.
Restroom for Pets
The pet-friendly restroom features a puppy potty and a grass floor as well as features to allow easy access for people with disabilities.
Free Yoga Space
Need a stretch before heading on that long flight? Vancouver International Airport has a room for you.
YVR and Yoga have announced a new pilot program that will provide a free yoga space for departing passengers.
This is the first time YVR has earned the ranking and is the first North American airport to do so. Previous winners are Singapore Changi Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and Beijing Capital International Airport.
YVR has grown from serving only 1,072 passengers in 1931 to an expected 22 million in 2016. It now serves over 35 airlines from around the world.

We stayed one night and the stay was excellent. Started off with a welcoming greeting from staff. We took our dog and were presented with a dog dish, ball and towel. Very impressed. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Also breakfast included.
We chose to stay here for a hotel close to the Skytrain since we were attending a concert in downtown Vancouver. Perfect spot very close to the Skytrain and 15 mins ride to Rogers Arena. Station Square in Metrotown is right there with plenty of shops, restaurants and amenities nearby. Overnight parking in parkade is included in the room fee. We will definitely make this our Vancouver hotel for the future visits.
Only issue we had was Skytrain noise as we were close by choice and street noise on Central Blvd. Will solve by requesting a room on the far side next time
Bathrooms had plenty of counter space and nice shower but AC was noisy
Freebies including an airport shuttle, breakfast and Wi-Fi. a convenient place for guests who want to be near the Vancouver Airport Start your day with the hotel’s free breakfast of eggs, meat, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt and warm signature cinnamon rolls

Stayed here twice within a three week period for work and it was a reasonable experience. Asked for a quiet room but was put over a loading area which was definitely not quiet. Also, key stopped working for my room and was told to use hallway phone to have a new one brought up, however that took two phone calls and a 25 minute wait unfortunately while I was standing in the hallway. Don’t appreciate them charging for Internet in the rooms unless you join their ‘Star’ club . I stay at a lot of hotels for business and complimentary Internet is becoming the norm without having to join membership programs.
Really like their policy on room cleaning where if you don’t get your room cleaned they’ll give you a voucher to use in the hotel. Seemed like this policy was inconsistent though as I got it twice on my first visit and once the second time even though my stays were the same length and I didn’t request room cleaning.
To finish, very friendly staff, convenient location, and a great fitness area as well!
