Clean, good price, walking distance to Roger’s Arena and shopping & transit…excellent service from all restaurants..kudos to Michelle & Guy/Jordan they are excellent at what they do..will stay again
We stayed at the hotel because it is so close to BC Place. It was clean but let us down. The heater didn’t work, 1 of 2 elevators didn’t work consistently during the weekend and the rooms/bathrooms were small.
I have stay 1 night in this hotel becasue of a nhl game. The hotel is close to the Rogers arena. Amazing view at the city center. Room was very nice and clean. Good service and housekeeping. Would stay again in this hotel.
Clean room, comfortable beds, not all that quiet, but it was a game night. Curtains closed and the room was DARK! 🙂 Super friendly staff, easy check-in, secure parking, at a price, but worth it. Could use more elevators! All in all, will be back!
Stayed here twice. First time the room was nice, updated washroom and furniture. Second time was a dated room with pealing paint on the ceiling in the washroom. Great location, good restaurant in the building.
We had a great stay for New Year’s Eve 2016. Check was easy, staff was pleasant. Parking was great and accessible, close to the elevator. We brought our 2 dogs and everyone loved them. Our room was small, but it’s just a room, so we were fine with that. The only complaint I would have would be with the other people staying in rooms close to us, but you can’t change that. So we were happy. The location was great!! Couldn’t ask for anything better which offered pet friendly rooms. The bed was comfy and clean. We will stay again.
Upon entering the sandman I thought the location was convenient and that it looked great and would be a great place to stay as I’ve never been disappointed with the Sandman hotels before. Once I entered my room I was shocked at how small it was! My 9yr old daughters bedroom is bigger than the room we were given! The bed was not comfortable, there is no closet to hang jackets or put shoes aside. Our suitcases were on the floor because there was no where to put them and half the time we were tripping over them! I didn’t relax at all because I couldn’t in this room so most of the time I kept telling my husband “let’s go somewhere” or “get me out of here!” I personally wouldn’t stay here again. I suppose the only benefit was having a restaurant (Moxies) and a lounge (Shark Club) attached to hotel.
I recently spent two nights at this hotel.
The room had to be the smallest I have stayed in in quite some time. The room was clean and fairly up to date. Good water pressure in the shower .
It is centrally located down town and a good value .
Request to be far. From the elevator if you want to sleep. Doors lack soundproofing.
I will go again .
We stayed only one night but the hotel is well located, clean and the staff is nice, welcoming and helpful. The price is great for what you get and the location. The only remark I have is that breakfast is not included, however there is a nice bakery nearby. Finally, I recommend the place.
Went on a small business venture in downtown Vancouver to attend a conference and decided to stay at the Sandman as they advertised lowest rates well that was a big lie I spent 229 a night for a bed and tv with crap coffee. I’ve stayed in nicer two star motels in the middle of nowhere. My advice for the price you spend here you might as well go to the four seasons or other actual four star plus hotels.
Great hotel located right next to the Stadium and train station.
The lovely lady who checked us in was so helpful and friendly.
The room was smallish but had everything we needed. The bathroom was modern and clean. Just wish there was an in-room safe.
Great stay in Vancouver.
We had a 3 hour delay on our flight but when we arrived at 1.15 am the night manager was very helpful getting us to our room,by bad luck we had a disturbed night because of another guest, the following morning we requested a move and there was no problem we left our cases for the cay in a secure room, We were given a nicer room with a bit of a view, every member of staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us .The rooms were a good size, very clean plenty of towels and hot water, the lifts were quick and prompt, my only drawback was I thought the restaurant manager at breakfast time needed more time to wake up before he dealt with guests.
We had a lead in room. Very small room but perfect for a night stay. Solid 3 star hotel. Harder bed. Clean.
Upgrade if you need a bigger room for sure.
Great location, close to skytrain, walk to BC place, Rogers arena and Yaletown.
Would stay again but book King room.
Staff were fabulous!
I stayed here with my husband and son in a room with two queen beds. The room was large and clean and had a great view, but we really had to try hard to find somewhere to charge our phones and iPads. We were able to walk all over the city without any problems, and having the stadium so close made the hotel easy to find. The neighborhood had lots of restaurants, a grocery store, and a 7-11, so you’re set as far as that goes.
On one of the nights we stayed, my son ever-so-graciously threw up at 3 a.m on the floor and bed, and the staff was good about helping us take care of it. It was a tough day for us, and the housekeeping person for our room couldn’t have been kinder and more gracious. She was like that the entire time we were there.
Room service could not have been worse. I wanted to order something for my son, but no one answered the phone. I called the front desk. The guy there transferred me to room service, but I let the phone ring more than 30 times and no one answered then, either. I gave up.
There were also seemingly interminable waits any time I went to the front desk. It was usually manned by a single person, which was clearly not enough staff. I believe they overcharged me by about $40, but I figured I’d take care of it from home rather than cause a logjam at the front desk.
All in all, I was pleased with the hotel. We were right where we wanted to be, and the kindness of the housekeeping staff really made up for the mediocre front desk and MIA room service staff.
We stayed here for two nights at the end of a Rocky Mountains tour. The hotel is centrally located, on the corner of West Georgia and Cambie streets, about 20 minutes walk from Chinatown and Gastown and 5 minutes from the Rogers Arena. The hotel is large and modern, bu the reception area was spacious and well staffed. Our room on the 12th floor had decent views over the city and to the coastal mountains and was clean, spacious and well furnished (including fridge and ironing board).
Breakfast for the tour group was disappointing, especially on day 1; it seemed that providing sufficient food and then keeping it warm was too much of a challenge. I’m sure that independent guests would have been better catered for.
nice clean hotel in the heart of Vancouver. Friendly courteous attentive staff. Adjacent to a sports bar, Shark Club and upscale dining at Moxies. Steps to the Rogers centre. Pool and hot tub very clean!
Spent a wonderful night with my daughter at the Sandman. Fantastic staff who were friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and comfortable. So close to Rogers,Arena and,BC Place. Walking distance to downtown. I will be staying here again.
Location: Walking distance to Canada Place, Gastown, Robson Street, Granville Street & lots of amenities.
Bus Stop: The hop on hop off buses (West Coast & Trolley) both stop directly outside the hotel.
Room: Small but clean with a comfy bed. Free wifi.
Moxie’s Restaurant: Downstairs with great food & a varied menu. Staff were lovely, especially Sydney.
Pool: Freezing cold but quiet/didn’t see anyone else there, & there’s a hot tub.
Luggage Room: To store your bags after check out.
Air Con in Room: Very noisy.
Room: No fridge or safe, & barely any cupboard/hanging space.
Room Service: They refused to do room service when there’s an “event on.” When we went downstairs to eat in the restaurant instead, it was empty. Bit odd.
Lifts: Having read previous reviews, I thought to myself it can’t be that bad. I was wrong….it was worse! So slow & infrequent. Sometimes more than 10mins wait. Became irritating, especially as there’s no air con in the corridors so it was boiling hot.
Business Centre: Had to print a tour voucher but there was no ink in the printer despite charging us $5. Luckily the reception staff helped us out.
Greeting: The receptionist checking us in didn’t welcome us. We had to ask if we could have a map & ask her where we were. When we said we’re staying for 10 night she looked unimpressed & sarcastically said “wow,” which made us worried about the state of the hotel, but we had a good stay & would stay here again based on the great location.
This hotel was in a great central spot. I found walking to all the different areas very easy from here. If your a sports person the arena is visible from many rooms, so it’s like only a couple of minutes walk. The staff are friendly and I particularly liked that I arrived early off a long haul flight and they had given me a room ready to go, I loved this. I was exhausted, needed a shower and a soft bed and I got both. My room was well appointed with a fridge and it was clean, and the bed very comfortable and soft. The Shark bar adjacent to the hotel, was a great spot for a beer and a meal, I found the staff in there very friendly and the service great.
From my husband, who stayed at the Sandman for a week while his father was in hospital nearby: Just wanted to give a huge shoutout to the front desk staff of the Sandman Hotel, City Centre in Vancouver, B.C. on behalf of the C. family from Lanarkshire, Scotland/ Maryland, U.S.A. My parents could not have had better care from a more dedicated and professional staff who regularly went way above and beyond the call of duty during my parents’ unexpected extended stay in Vancouver. To list the great kindnesses shown my parents and me would simply take too long. Special thanks in particular are due to Stan at the front desk. I’ve always had faith that given the opportunity, people will go the extra mile. Stan proves it, consistently.
