The Hotel.
The Pan Pacific in Vancouver is probably my favorite hotel as far as locations go. It is right at the waterfront facing the Burrard Inlet where you have views of North Vancouver directly across, the Lions Bridge, and the movements of ocean bound ships and regional servicing seaplanes. Occasionally, 1 or 2 cruise ships dock right at the hotel’s front steps (so to speak).
The Rooms.
I have stayed at the Pan numerous times in the past year and I always go for a harbour view room (why wouldn’t you?!). The rooms are pretty basic as far as 4-5 star hotels go but the views are just spectular. If you can swing a Primier room, do so! I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. Basic amenities in the room include a mini bar (overpriced, of course), a chaise lounge or a club chair with ottoman, and all the ports and outlets that you could ever need. One thing though, I noticed that some rooms have better Internet speeds than others. Might be due to it’s location vis-a-vis the wifi routers on each floor.
The Beds.
I have to admit, I have stayed in other hotels with much better beds but the beds at the Pan aren’t bad. The sheets are nice and crisp and you get a ton of pillows of different sizes! That’s probably my favorite feature of their beds. I’ve always had very decent sleepful nights at the Pan so I really don’t have any complaints about their beds.
The Bathroom.
Very clean! And the showers have rain shower heads with excellent pressure. And I love their bath and skin products, as well. My only complaint is that they do not replenish the bath soap unless you ask them to. WHich sucks if you stay for a week each time (like I do). I just wish they’d be more proactive at looking at how small the soap has shrunk and then leave a new bar.
The Staff.
Very friendly houesekeeping staff. Overall everyone is friendly but I have had some issues with a couple – 1 waiter at the bar who was not attentive at all, and a guy at the front counter who had to keep asking his manager questions everytime I had one. Seemed incompetent but I convinced myself that he may just have been new at the time.
Overall I would stay at the Pan everytime I can when I have to be in Vancouver. It’s just a really great place to stay.
