The staff were incredibly helpful. The room was spacious and the views were beautiful. The hotel has a Great location for Stanley park and buses. The breakfast was basic, good waffle machine though. Only downside was the gym was terrible.
Our go to place in Vancouver. Very reasonable price for a one bedroom with a kitchen and den, continental breakfast, free parking. Nice enclosed deck. Worth it to pay a little extra for a higher floor, view of Stanley Park. Walking distance to the shops on Robson, English Beach, lots of restaurants, and of course, Stanley Park.
We stayed here for three nights at the end of a three week holiday travelling through the Rockys. We were in room 1208 and 1209 which are located on the side overlooking the city rather than the harbour. If you crane around the balcony of 1209 you can just see part of the harbour and the rowing club. The rooms comprise a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, lounge area and an office. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. I have seen some rather scathing reviews of this hotel, but we enjoyed our stay and liked the fact that it is self contained and gave us the opportunity to get our washing done before heading home! Our rooms were clean and although the decor and white goods are dated ( and could benefit from modernisation) and an office might not be something you are going to use when on holiday, but these apartments are used by business people and rented by residents as well as holidaymakers. The breakfast offered is basic, but if you don’t want it, you can cook your own. Free wi fi is offered in the rooms and the housekeepers are very helpful with instructions on using the white goods. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our room was quite nice & the view was great.
The bedroom area was quite small, but acceptable.
Room was clean & bed reasonably comfortable.
The air-con pipe went out of the window, so to have the air-con on, you needed to have the window open, which gave quite a lot of road noise.
Breakfast was ok. Help yourself to cereal/toast/bagels, but you need to be down early to get any of the danish/muffin selection. There was also a waffle making machine.
You could eat in the breakfast room, or take it back to your room & eat in the enclosed balcony, enjoying the outlook.
There is an underground car park, but you need to park on the road first to check -in, you will then be given code for the car park.
The hotel is nicely located for a stroll onto Stanley Park & along the harbour.
I recently stayed at the Lord Stanley when I friend and planned a “Mom’s weekend away” to visit Stanley Park. The hotel was clean, comfortable and easy walking distance to many fun and interesting places as well as restaurants of every ethnicity.
I can’t say enough about the quality of staff! From David’s warm greetings, cheerful smile and great sense of humor, to the woman in the breakfast room (the waffles were fabulous!) who chatted with me about local news/weather, to the employee who brought a Lego toy down to the front desk, certain that a child would be looking for it soon. These are the little touches that always make me feel at home in a new location.
I’ve never stayed on a Penthouse floor before so we both enjoyed the fun of that. And the view from our room which overlooked the marina, Stanley Park and Coal Harbor Park? Amazing. Our room was clean, comfortable and included a kitchenette, which would have added value to our stay had we been in town for a longer visit.
I look forward to staying here the next time I visit Vancouver
how could you not feel welcome at a hotel that typically greets you with “welcome home!” each time you return?
i’ve reviewed the lord stanley before, and think it’s important to check back from time to time because a place can change. that i stay here each year – and that mostly the same staff are still here each year – indicates the Lord Stanley continues to live up to its popular reputation.
i’ve also suggested the Lord Stanley to friends and colleagues, both for their visits to Vancouver and also as a recommendation for others. i’ve received only positive feedback all around.
i like the flexibility of an apartment hotel: you can choose to prepare meals should you (or your budget) decide on eating in rather than out. having laundry facilities is a godsend especially when you travel for any length of time. you can choose between a unit with a city-view balcony, or with an unobstructed view of coal harbour, stanley park and the north shore mountains.
the location is perfect: adjacent to lost lagoon, Stanley park, the harbour walk that leads into the downtown area, all the action on Denman and Robson streets (including some excellent restaurants and both Safeway and whole foods), the English Bay beach area and bus transportation.
the complimentary continental breakfast is always a popular feature, too.
congratulations to the Lord Stanley, and keep up the good work!
