Good: Staff is friendly. Service lady did a good job in organizing our room. Price is very reasonable. The location is great, short walking distance to a lot of shopping streets. About 10min walk to metro station. Bad: But the soundproof is the worst. I can hear people talking next door n across our room. They don’t change the bed sheet, so I had to leave a note to the service lady, but I still don’t see any crease, so go figure.
The hotel is in a good location with easy parking. The bar seemed nice but we didn’t have time to visit. The only reason I gave it less than five stars is because it needs to be updated. Clean, modest rooms.
We just came back from Vancouver and we had a pleasant stay in this hotel. Rooms are nice, modern and clean, beds are also good. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. In walking distance to the shops, restaurants and to the waterfront.
I stayed at this establishment 15-20 Jan whilst attending a training course which was held at the property. My first impression of check-in was great. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful front desk receptionist who took care of my speedy check-in and answered all my questions about the surrounding area.
I was assigned to room 417, a standard king. The room was very clean and was equipped with a fridge, but no microwave. The king bed was one of the nicest I have ever slept on and despite its overlooking Howe Street, a very busy thoroughfare in Vancouver, it was extremely quiet. I measured the dB(A) and it came in at 32 (Average Quiet Whisper); no problem sleeping there for me!
Housekeeping was very good and never forgot an item, like towels, facecloths, shampoo, mouthwash, etc. I was particularly surprised when housekeeping came to my room at around 6:00 pm for a turndown service. You don’t see that very often these days at other hotels. It was a nice touch by IHG.
There is a small pantry in the lobby, as well as a business centre with printer and a restaurant. There is also a Tim Horton’s, Starbuck’s, Seven-11, Subway, Shoppers Drug Mart and an IGA, all within a 10 minute walk of the front door. Many restaurants and bars can also be found in the immediate area.
I did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but did enjoy many extra-large coffees which I purchased for $2.10 each there to take back upstairs to my course – they use Starbucks brand coffee.
The hotel has a pool and fitness centre, but I did not try either.
Check-out was very easy, in that my bill (with no errors) was placed under my door the night before my departure. The front desk called a taxi to the airport for me, and it arrived in around 5 minutes at 6:30 am.
Would I stay there again? Absolutely!
The only reason I did not award 5 stars to this property was due to the age of the building, décor and only two small, slow elevators in the main lobby.
I would like to thank the hotel management and staff for a great stay!
The staff are wonderful people. Room was great for what we needed. Within walking distance in downtown Vancouver to restaurants, theaters and clubs. Four stars for the staff.
I hope the idiot who stayed on Room 710 on November 19th. You are a rude angry drunk. You punched a hole in the wall of your room at least three times. Yes three times because I could hear you hitting the wall. I am surprised the door was still in the hinges in the morning after you banged and kicked it several times trying to get back in the room. You woke me up several times. I was ready to call the police on you, but my husband said ignore the stupid drunk. I hope you got stuck with a huge bill by the hotel and you are band for life from there.
Our room was on the 6th floor. Lifts are small and a little slow but worth the wait.
Lovely big room which was clean and has an opening door onto a small balcony.
Lounge, fridge, kettle, iron and board, king bed, comfy pillows, ticks all the boxes for me.
Room for bags and cases and has a reasonably priced restaurant in the foyer.
Walk approx 6 blocks toward the City and you’ll find a huge under ground shopping centre with nordstrums, Hudson Bay and plenty of small shops.
Great affordable breakfast too.
This is a return to this motel. As I have commented previously, the location is just fantastic. It is close to bus routes and close to restaurants and only a few blocks away from the shopping centers. The staff are very polite and very knowledgeable of the attractions to go and see and nothing is too hard for them to do. We stayed on the 6th floor and the view was north direction. The sunrises were just amazing. The room was very well appointed with tea and coffee facilities, fridge, iron and ironing board in the room The bathroom is also well appointed. There is a selection of pillows on the bed. There is a second floor garden open area with seating available. The pool and fitness center are well stocked and clean. There is a bar and buffet area on the main level as well as the information/ car rental desk. There is free Wi-Fi in each room and also in the lobby. The cleaning staff kept the room clean and well stocked and noting was too hard for them. The conference rooms were all booked during the time that we stayed here. If you not want to eat in the restaurant, there are plenty of other places nearby to eat.
Thanks to all the staff that made our stay here enjoyable.
We stayed in Vancouver for 5 days. Overall I have no complaints about this hotel. We got a great price per room on Hotwire. King room with large couch. Very comfortable. My only complaints are the same as pretty much every hotel: horrible pillows, weird room lighting, not the best shower.
Bonus: the pool is open 24 hours. It’s also heated to 85 degrees which is nice. Great location walking distance to a lot of Vancouver sites.
Right in the heart of Vancouver. Very noisy. Wear earplugs! The rooms are well appointed but tiny. The buffet breakfast is a little pricey (20$) but worth it. It has a very good selection. The hotel staff is courteous and professional. I would stay again for 1-2 nights on a business trip.
we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, coming by a direct flight from zuerich, switzerland.
Personnel very friendly, particular at breakfast. Tickets for the trolleybus were sold at the reception area, bus stop opposite pf the hotel. By this bus we could reach any part of Vancouver, including Chinatown( full with homeless). In the neighborhood of the hotel we found a malaysian restaurant…Banana Leaf,,with excellent spicy, authentic food.
The hotel is in Southern part of the downtown Vancouver and walking distance to almost all downtown. Here ends the good part. Parking is very small, expensive and impossible to get in specially if another car is parked in the porch which always was the case. Rooms are average. Our bathroom had no sink. The sink was located in the clothes closet. Restaurant food is below average and pretty expensive for the quality they serve.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites as part of our start of the Rockymountaineer rail tour. We were given a reasonable size room. It has no safe or complimentary water of which I found out as the water was not labelled so assumed it was. My credit card was charged for the water used. I pleaded my case as it was not labelled as a purchase item nor does any welcome pack state it is not complimentary. Buffet breakfast is $19 each or continental breakfast for $13. They have nice cooked omelets to order. They also have a map of restaurants close by & what cuisine you want to eat at.
My husband and I spent one night here at the end of an Alaskan cruise. We arrived late in the evening here after a long day tour and sadly there weren’t a lot of eating options close by or in the hotel cafe–which closed at 10. Not familiar with the area we didn’t feel comfortable walking around too far from the hotel. Wished we had arrived during the daylight hours as there were places I would have walked to had I known my way around a little better. Wished the hotel staff had been a little more helpful when I asked for directions. I think you’d want to take a cab if you wanted to head out to a restaurant at night. The room was clean, quiet and more than adequate for a one night stay. Our room was facing the street but still quiet. Had we been staying longer I would have perhaps chosen a little closer to the city center, restaurants, etc. It was consistent with what one would expect at a Holiday Inn. I booked well in advance and got a good rate. Vancouver is a beautiful city with lots to see and explore.
I stayed here with a friend during pride weekend and loved it. The hotel is clean, quiet and easy to park my truck! If you are looking for something central, affordable and comfortable this is a great choice.
We had to go to vcr for medical reasons. Kris the manager was very understanding and helped us out. Jesse that works in the cafe is so friendly. All the staff was great. Location was great. They have a very nice siting area on the second for, nice to be able to hang out
No complaints at all…had a wonderful time and the staff downstairs in the foyer bar and front desk were wonderful. It is a comfortable flat walk to Gastown and the Vancouver Tower and Canada Place. Also short walk to Granville Island but get the Hornby St ferry to save time.
We arrived at the same time as a large group and the front desk were very welcoming and pro-actively helpful in trying to find a quicker way for us to avoid the line. The bartender Dave was very unprofessional and was ranting and swearing to another coworker (who was off shift) about his manager and coworkers while we had a drink at the bar right in front of them. I’m assuming because we were a similar age he thought we wouldn’t mind but it left a really bad first impression and was certainly not subtle. The pool has a really weird layout and didn’t look inviting but they do have a nice outdoor patio. The hotel has an amazing location since it’s right in the heart of downtown but on a quieter block. We had one of the newer, recently renovated rooms and were very impressed, with the exception of the pillows which were clumpy and dated. The new decor looks great though! This is a great hotel to stay at if you’re taking a Rocky Mountaineer journey or coming to or heading to Seattle on Quick Shuttle since it’s a pick-up spot.
