What won us to this place was a free parking promotion they were running in March when we booked for July. It didn’t disappoint, though. We’re right in the heart of the city, with easy access to everything we wanted to do (Stanley Park, Granville Island) by bus.

The hot tub in the Penthouse is lovely. Our room was clean, and surprisingly quiet for being right in the heart of Vancouver. Now, we were on the 8th floor, so I’m not sure if that would have been true on or nearer to the ground.

On the Penthouse as well, there’s a full service kitchen (you may want to bring your own forks — they only had two!) that we didn’t know about when booking, but we were thrilled to find! We cooked our dinners in there each night and saved a pile of money that way! There’s also a little rooftop terrace with a great view of the city from 12 floors up right off the kitchen.

We even discovered that there’s a common use ping pong table in the lobby area on our last night there! Cool!

The only thing I will say that was a bit disappointing was that it was difficult to unload luggage from the parking garage, as the elevator starts at parking level 1 and there are only stairs up from level 2. Also, having to use keys EVERYWHERE (even on the elevator to be able to push the buttons) was a little annoying, especially since our key cards magnetized several times and we had to keep replacing them. These things would certainly not stop me from staying here again, though!

We stayed in July 2017. The rooms were nothing special – I’d even say below average towels, bathroom amenities etc. But the Wifi was good, front desk staff very helpful and parking is available. The area is just a short walk and ferry ride to Granville Island. grocery store just a few blocks away. HotTub is tiny (2 people max). beds/pillows are average to below-average.

If your Vancouver stay will include Stanley Park, Nightlife (Gastown, Yaletown) and Granville Island – great place to stay. If your plans include items NORTH like Capilano, Grouse Mtn, Whistler etc, then you may want to stay north of the Lions Gate bridge. This bridge is bumper-to-bumper every day. Morning and Evening.

We stayed in a two double beds room with microwave, fridge, coffee maker and water boiler. It was very convenient as the breakfast is not included so we could have some food in the morning without leaving the hotel. There is a White Spot restaurant at the hotel and gives 10% discount for hotel guests.
The room is spacious and clean. We had everything we needed for a nice stay, if you like walking everything is at walking distance. Very close to Yaletown, about 30 minutes walk to Telus World of Science, Waterfront, Granville Island, etc.
Granville Street is not a nice area, there are many closed stores, many homeless people and feels decadent. You can get to the hotel through parallel streets though, they are much nicer and feels safer

This apartment stay is comfortable with a restaurant next to the lobby. My room has a microwave and coffee making facilities. It’s about 15 mins down Granville Street to downtown Hudson Bay and department stores and lots of food trucks along the way, so it’s suitably situated. The advice for the shower is turn the tap all the way around then back to get the right temperature.
Stayed at GEC from Thursday to Sunday Local traveller downtown Vancouver for weekend convention. Front desk staff are very friendly. Rooms recently renovated. Clean and spacious. Convenient free parking and great location close to everything in downtown Vancouver!

We stayed 1 night, but would have stayed longer it was so nice. Modern decor, Clean room, comfortable bed, close to down town, next to restaurant, Friendly helpful staff.

If I had to have a complaint/recommendation: Ask for a high up room, the street noise was a little much for us. Also the people in the other rooms on our floor were noisy till after midnight. None of these things were fault of hotel just my experience.

I stayed in this hotel a night. It is in Granville street. It is in city centre and very near to shopping area. There is a sauna and Jacuzzi on top floor. Rooms are very clean. All furniture, towels, linens are new. Staffs are great very friendly and helpful. Thanks GEC Granville.

Proximity to downtown is good. a few mins walk from everything that matters. would be better if breakfast was included. but overall great experience in our 3 days there. there is a restaurant on site that offers discounts to hotel guests but we never visited there.

Stayed here for one night after a long flight. Check in was fast and all the front desk staff were very friendly. The room is clean and comfortable. Nice amenities in the bathroom. The bright spotlight shining up the side of the building means quite a bit of light leaking through the blinds but we were exhausted and it didn’t matter much. Overall this is good value for downtown Vancouver.

The best things about this hotel are the price and the location. The rooms also have a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave, comfortable beds, and laminate floors rather than carpet, which I liked. The staff tried hard and were friendly and eager to please. They kept our bags for us after we checked out, all day until it was time for us to leave, which was great. It was quiet at night, the blackout curtains kept out sound and light, and there were buses going by all the time, so it was convenient to either use public transit or to walk. There were some issues, however, which kept it from being a really good or great place to stay. First, there was rather a lot of black mould growing on the window ledge and window sides, above an air conditioner/heater that did not work. (Power light said it was ON, but the buttons underneath the broken lid would not respond to changes and it kept blowing cold air vigorously out at undetermined intervals.) Our room (306) definitely seemed to have some moisture issues (it was a renovated old building, I think) and there was a slight musty smell in the bathroom if you kept the door shut for long. The power outlets on our desk didn’t work. Also, housekeeping did not change the used mugs or glasses, nor did they replenish the coffee supplies after we used them. So, we had to wash the cups with a bar of hand soap in order to use them again, when we would have expected fresh clean cups and mugs daily. We had to ask for more coffee supplies and the front desk denied any knowledge of how housekeeping works or what we could expect.

Stay here for several days after a long haul flight.Found the room to be clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.Prices are reasonable and had no hesitation in rebooking prior to return flight.Having the White Spot Bar & Restaurant adjoining the property was an added bonus

If you are attending an event on Granville Street (e.g. at The Vogue or the Orpheum) then this is a good place to stay as those venues are within walking distance. We stayed here in the past when it was a different hotel brand, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the rooms have been upgraded. Recommended!

This hotel was in a great location in Vancouver. Fairly reasonably priced with free wifi & parking. Was a little noisy with the street & rooms and our toilet got blocked but aside from that it was clean & tidy.

Got this hotel at a great price on Expedia and though I’d give it a shot.
Turned out to be an awesome hotel, large rooms, fairly new, clean and modern renos to the rooms.
White Spot Restaurant is attached
Its a little far, on the far end of downtown.

I stayed here once before when it was the Best Western and my first time stay since it changed hands to the GEC. The rooms are an ok size – not huge but not cramped. The rooms and the lobby are very clean and it’s in a central location in Vancouver. For the price I found it a very decent value and the parking was free although I was told by the front desk reception that is only until March of 2017.

First of all, this hotel exceeded my expectations by a mile. The check in staff was nice and when I arrived, It was too early to check in and so they held my luggage while I went to explore Vancouver. Once I got to my room, it looked exactly like the photos and it was pretty clean except for the bathroom. There was urine on the toilet. The location was great with a bus stop with multiple lines within less than a minute walk from the hotel. There are 2 subway stations within around 10ish minutes from the hotel (Vancouver City Center and Yaletown Roundhouse). The Main Street to the Vancouver City Center Station, Granville Street, does look a little shady so I do prefer using the Yaletown Roundhouse station especially at night times. I also slipped on the bathtub and thankfully only broke my nail and didnt hurt anything else. The bathtub is extremely slippery so remember to use the mat that they provide. I was just stupid not to use it because it did look pretty brown and dirty. The only other thing would be that the cleaners would came knocking at my door at 10am to clean the room. I was about to leave and so she was very accommodating and said she would be back after I leave. I thought 10am seemed a little early but maybe I’m just a late bird. Other than that, for the price I paid for(around $50/night tax included) I can’t complain at all. It was a nice and comfortable hotel with nice decor and in a great city center location. I’d highly recommend it!

Everything was perfect for me, a solo senior traveller. The hotel was in a great location close to public transit and several interesting downtown venues such as the Vancouver Art Gallery, public library, and the Yaletown Skytrain station. The room was clean and amenities included a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and free WiFi. More than this, I was lucky to meet the extraordinary front desk person, Francesco Paolo Ciminale. He assisted me in setting up WiFi on my iPad and explained how to activate the elevator with my room keycard. He suggested places to go such as the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and VanDusen Botanical Garden and gave me directions for walking to the Vancouver Art Gallery. He was the consummate host and ambassador for Vancouver and surrounding areas. I stayed for three nights and Francesco made my visit a truly wonderful experience.

Stopped here for 4 nights at the start of our tour of B.C.
A lovely hotel on the edge of Downtown Vancouver. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. We had a room facing out onto Granville street which was a bit noisy with traffic and also a bus stop underneath our room. The room itself was very spacious and had all the facilities you would expect.

The area nearby is a little run down and there are a lot of beggars at that end of Granville street, however at no time did we feel threatened and were quite happy to walk past them.

My one grouse with the hotel was that the coffee making facilities were not cleaned or replenished each day although the room was serviced. Reception gave us fresh supplies as required.

Unfortunately for me the previous occupants had turned the fridge to the coldest setting so in the morning when I went to get my insulin it had frozen rendering it unusable.
I mention this as a warning to anybody putting insulin in a fridge to check the setting first.

Arriving early at about 11am check in was not until 3pm after a long flight I was devastated but the staff were very nice allowing me to check in early. My room was well equipped with a fridge, microwave, safe and TV. I found it an average size, it definitely wasn’t incredibly spacious but it met the needs of a family spending most of the day out. The appliances were well maintained other than a reading lamp not working, but it was something so minor that I didn’t use it was not an issue and I am sure they would have fixed it for us if I asked them to.

The location is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from town passing a lot of homeless people, an adult store and a shop selling marijuana. The house keeping service was pretty poor frequently not making the bed, not replenishing the tissues or toiletries. But the room was to a high standard of cleanliness. Beds were comfortable and I would have slept well had the walls not been so thin. I was unfortunate enough the be near a group who were shouting a banging around all night. I phoned reception and security spoke to them but there are only so many times you can call up, at 11pm one of them starting playing a guitar with the door open!

Overall this is a fine place to stay for your trip in Vancouver at a reasonable price.
