This hotel is vastly overpriced for the amenities provided. At over $500 Canadian a night all you get is an ordinary hotel room. It could have been a Holiday Inn. Internet access is an extra charge. No breakfast is provided, nor is there a microwave in the room. We were charged even for the “complimentary” apple which was placed in our room when we checked in.
I contrast this with the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs where, on an earlier trip, we were charged less for a suite of three rooms and a large outside terrace.
This hotel is usually the better priced our of all three Vancouver Fairmont properties. Since their renovation it has become a much better hotel. The restaurant/bar on the main floor is great. The hotel is steps from some of Vancouver’s best restaurants and retail shopping.
I still love the this grand old hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable, and even though our room was not one that has been renovated it was still very comfortable.
The lobby renovations and dining are comets and I look forward to seeing what they have done with the room renovations.
Cannot beat the location, for shopping, dining, and ease from the rapid transit line form the airport.
Truly, the Fairmont brand is just amazing! After leaving Fairmont Calgary, which we adored, we flew to Vancouver and there, in the centre of downtown was another oasis! Check-in and check-out could not have been better. Jane was a true professional and her warmth and generosity of spirit was great! We then were met on the Gold level by Wilson who again was SO professional, informative and warm. Our room was superb as was the lounge with its fine food and ambience. Am very much looking forward to our return stay in 3 days time!
Stayed here for a conference on the 11th floor in a king size room. While I didn’t have a room with a “shower big enough for 4″, my room did have a cast iron deep tub, and I took the hotel up on their free amenity of bath salts for a luxurious soak. I’m 5’8 and the tub was more than comfortable
I can overlook the rose wallpaper for fabulous service, great free tea and coffee service , the free umbrella in my room ( one week of rain”) . I also had trouble with my room card deactivating by demagnetizing in my wallet, and the desk service was more than gracious about addressing this in a timely manner
The bed was wonderful, the pillows anti allergic and perfectly puffy for my tastes.
Walking distance to high priced shopping. Tiffanies, Dior, etc and 3 blocks to a Winners, Nordstrom, old navy and a full shopping mall with a great food court two blocks the other way. I was able to hop the Centre line train from the airport to a short two block walk to the hotel, which was cost efficient and reasonable.
The view of the gargoyle on the hotel roofline made for some great pics to send home, Despite my bad iPhone pic attached.
This place is filled with character and charm of that old world feel of marble floors, fabulous columns that showcased the Christmas theme.
I had free wi-if with my free president club membership for the fairmont.
I also had the best food offered as part of the conference. Breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks that included cappuccino maker. ( dear Fairmont, the toaster for bagels took far too long)
Im loving this place, and it’s a refreshing change from your every day Holiday Inn / Sheraton experience. Not that they aren’t great- this is simply more character with refined charm.
My budget didn’t include Fairmonts Notch restraunt, but don’t under estimate the quality and price of some nearby eateries. I predict you will be happy here.
I’m staying at the hotel now and am definitely disappointed so far. The service, decor and rooms are not nearly as good as their two other properties downtown. I am in an “upgraded” room and the bathroom is so small I have to press up against the wall to close the door (I’m pretty thin). The room is unbelievably noisy as well which makes it hard to sleep at night. Last night, I went to sleep and the room was at a reasonable temperature but woke up at 4am and it felt like I was in a sauna! I guess the thermostat is broken?
My room key card also stopped working and the staff at the front desk were pretty rude about it and implied I must have done something to cause it (its been in my wallet and not near anything that could de magnetize it).
On the plus side, the location is amazing but that’s not enough to make me stay here again when their other two spots are only a few blocks away.
The staff are truly amazing and go well out of their way to be helpful. Our stay was easy and very enjoyable. The hotel is beautiful and it is kept perfectly clean. We felt totally safe, and were very pleased that there was no outside or inside noise at night. We will be back! 🙂
The Fairmount in Vancouver is in a perfect location for a first time visitor to this beautiful city. Access to transportation including the Hop on Hop off Tours, or you can walk pretty much everywhere within 30-45 minutes. Shops and restaurants right outside the door which range from casual to high end. We stayed in a Junior suite on the 3rd floor. Very spacious with large bedroom, 2 dressers an desperate sitting room with couch, desk. Only downside would be no view.
Very good hotel with great service – they bent over backwards to provide us what we needed to make the stay enjoyable with a toddler, which is no easy task! (Hint – chocolate milk in sippy cups is readily available, as are diaper genies and cribs!)
Very good with special requests and additional assistance as needed. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent accommodations; right at the airport and for US travelers back home so easy. They have partial stays if not overnighting. Vancouver airport easy to navigate and sky train into the city is right at the airport and could not be easier.
Generally when you stay in a hotel smack in the city noise is an issue. It wasn’t for us. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on the Gold floor which offers concierge services for those staying on the floor, among other amenities such as a common reading room equipped with complimentary refreshments through out the day. Our deluxe room was spacious although a second sink in our washroom would have come in handy. The lobbies of the hotel lacked intimacy and felt cold, but that is expected with any modernizing concept. The hotel is very well run, very clean, luxurious and comfortable for the most part. The only setback was that my bed was lumpy, not sure if soft beds are meant to be lumpy as I prefer firm beds.
The Fairmont is location right in the heart of downtown. The staff is very helpful and the concierge is the best. They helped me plan every day, made restaurant reservations and more. There is shopping and restaurants all around and you can walk to the water and Granville island. Rooms are clean and well stocked
We had a quick two day stay prior to rocky mountaineer, the rooms are comfortable -the staff helpful. It’s central to everywhere in Vancouver with a little walking or public transport. We walked to Gastown and Chinatown took a ferry to the markets.Later today it’s time to pick a restaurant, there’s lots to choose from.
I was completely blown away by my stay at Fairmont Gold. The staff is extremely caring and friendly, the room, food and amenities are wonderful, the location of the hotel and the city are great. I felt appreciated and comfortable like I am at home, only better.
This is a classic FAIRMONT property. Vancouver has several now but if you’re looking for a classic hotel that gives you the old “CANADIAN Pacific” experience wth upgraded amenities and a fresh feel then this is the place for you.
Centrally located to Robson Street and all great shopping in Vancouver, this hotel has great restaurants of its own plus it’s near great restaurants nearby.
If you’re an OMEGA fan, they have a well stocked store in the lobby.
This hotel is currently being renovated on certain floors. The rooms are large and spacious. Service is excellent. The concierge service is exceptional. Their assistance allowed me to experience Vancouver after the meetings.
The central location allowed easy access to the harbor, shopping, theater, restaurants.
I stayed on the gold floor, which is the ultimate treat for a city stay. This hotel is walking distance to everything, including the hospital where my husband was having surgery. The concierge service on the gold floor was just incredible assisting me with logistics of dealing with someone in the hospital. The breakfast and evg. hors-d’oeuvre were from the main dining room, and just lovely. This Fairmont continues to be my Vancouver hotel, always pleasant, and comfortable.
