My wife and I run a business together and we try to get away once a quarter to work on projects and do some planning for the months ahead. We saw the gorgeous one-bedroom suites – and the very reasonable room rates –
on the Element website and thought we’d give it a try.
We arrived at the hotel a little before check-in time but apparently the previous guests had really done a number on the room. Cressida at the front desk was very apologetic, stored our luggage and took us up to the 5th floor lounge so we could wait for the room. She even set us up with some dishes and cutlery so that we could eat the lunch we’d brought from home (the suite had a kitchenette, so we planned ahead 😉 The lounge was bright and airy and we enjoyed reading our books. The front desk called when the room was ready (around 4pm) and we checked in to 1805. Cue sad horn noise.
We were SO disappointed in the room – it was very tight and cramped, with the exception of the glorious bathroom. We *thought* we’d booked the same one bedroom suite type that was featured in the photos on the website – so I went back down to the front desk where Benny helped me switch rooms for the next day because none were available that night.
We’d deliberately booked the one bedroom suite without the balcony because we didn’t think we’d use it – obviously we were unaware that the non-balcony one-bedroom suites are MUCH smaller and not suited to our needs. The next day, we were able to switch rooms at noon and the new room, 1501, was PERFECT and exactly what we wanted. Huge space, great layout, lovely views. From here on out, our stay was great and we were very happy.
We opted to say “no” to housekeeping in return for extra SPG points – the housekeeping staff came by to make sure we were stocked up on toiletries and to empty the garbage, which was nice.
We had breakfast a couple of times at the breakfast buffet – a surprising away of food and it was all hot and fresh. I also appreciated being able to go down to the lounge during the day to grab a couple of tea bags and some honey to soothe a sore throat. We got lunch one day from the coffee shop Nosh, which was also very tasty. There was no ice machine, but ice is free at the front desk and when I called, because it was a slow night, they were kind enough to send someone up to our room with a bag of ice, which was really nice.
Overall, the staff here was great and, once we got the right room, it was smooth sailing. Very convenient location, lots of amenities within easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend!
