Element Vancouver Metrotown

Stayed here two nights for work and the Element far exceeded my expectations. I have stayed in this area a few times before – Holiday Inn Metrotown and Hilton Metrotown – this was a far superior stay.

Room was spacious, with a full kitchen and all the necessities (plates, utensils, pots, etc.) and they have fantastic eco-friendly policies. The bathroom is low water, you can earn extra SPG points by opting not to have your room serviced, etc.

Location is fine. Across the street from Metrotown and the train into the city. Two grocery stores across the street if you want to stock your kitchen. I ate breakfast at the hotel (which is included) one morning and it was fine – pretty standard hotel buffet breakfast. They do have a nice patio option to eat outside in nice weather.

A very modern hotel with new rooms that have everything you need (comfortable bed, fridge, kitchen, shower). Breakfast of the buffet kind and they even catered for gluten free options.

Location: near the sky rail, near the biggest mall in Vancouver, near a supermarket. All you need if you arent downtown. Note it is in a heavily Asian area so you will feel like you are in Chinatown. The Crystal Mall nearby is full of Asian stores

Tip: reception is in the basement and is difficult to find

Very convenience place, close to shopping mall and lots of restaurants nearby.
The hotel is clean and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Very central to Metrotown skytrain. . Both times our room came with a kitchenette and slightly smaller that full sized fridge. The room felt more like a condo. The only downside, and this is fairly insignificant, is the parking add on fee. It’s $15 a day. For such a paltry sum, it would be nice to be included with the cost of room. Overall, Element is an exceptional value and we will be returning.

This is a top rack (non-luxury) hotel. Great rooms, views, service, attention, and quality. Parking stinks, but what doesn’t in the Vancouver area? Close to great restaurants, the Metropolis Mall, and the Asian mall (below the Hilton).

Here are my 5×5 notes. Five stars (*) is best:
1) Room Quality: *****
2) Updated and Modern: *****
3) Front Desk Service: *****
4) Housekeeping Quality: *****
5) Price and Value: *****
Overall rating = 5.0 (and I’m pretty picky)

Will I/we return? Yes, definitely!

Breakfast included? Yes. Good selection, nicely furnished.
Treats loyal travelers well? Yes
Executive Lounge? Yes, for SPG elites
Parking fees? Yes, tight spaces.
Fitness center quality: Great
Pool quality: Has one, haven’t used it.

We stayed here back in May . I had just undergone a procedure which was both emotionally and physically difficult and when we checked in it was night time . After spending the whole day in emergency I was obviously exhausted . It was me , my husband and our toddler. The room beside us was partying all night long and it was just too much for me after everything .
I called front desk and they came and escorted us right away to a new room and gave us the best room they had. They allowed us to leave our things in the original room as not to wake my toddler etc.
The next day they called to see if we needed help transferring our luggage and they called us to check in and they even gave us a dessert with their card and their caring words for what we had been through .

That just blew me away I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and the customer service here was what you you would have expected at a luxury property . Although this isn’t a luxury hotel it was still very nice .

Great clean and modern rooms as well ! Nice touch with the included breakfast with some hot items . A great hotel !

Pros: (Almost) a newly built hotel with clean and quite rooms. Good for both business and family trips! Close to many different businesses and restaurants.

Cons: They charge $15/night for parking. Tip: park in some of the nearby parking lots for less or in street for free!

Arrived for work – first time in Vancouver. My meeting was in Surrey but the Sheraton was under renovations so opted for the Element. What a wonderful choice!
The staff, including front desk, restaurant and housekeeping, was friendly and a pleasure to deal with.
I asked for a quiet room and was given wonderful room with an amazing view. Will definitely return again!

Newer hotel at a busy intersection but wasn’t bad to navigate around. Close to lots of restaurants and across the street from Crystal Mall and 2 blocks to Metrotown Mall. Decent basic breakfast is included in a nice lounge on the 5th floor. We got upgraded to the 17th floor and it had a nice view but rooms are on the smallish side. Mini kitchenette with a small bar size fridge. Bathroom was clean and nice with a shower stall only. One issue is that you had to watch TV sideways from the bed. Even though we were up high you can still hear traffic noise

My husband and I stayed for one month, and enjoyed everything from the cleanliness to the impeccably made beds. I should mention that the bed, and the bedding couldn’t be anymore comfortable than they were. I’m actually in pursuit of ordering the same bedding, including the pillows. At almost 60 years old, we had thought we’ve experienced nice bedding, but theirs definitely made us know that isn’t true. We could hardly wait to return to our room each night just to lay in the freshly made bed. Besides that, and cleanliness, all the staff were pleasant, and helpful. We do hope to stay again soon.

My wife and I run a business together and we try to get away once a quarter to work on projects and do some planning for the months ahead. We saw the gorgeous one-bedroom suites – and the very reasonable room rates –
on the Element website and thought we’d give it a try.

We arrived at the hotel a little before check-in time but apparently the previous guests had really done a number on the room. Cressida at the front desk was very apologetic, stored our luggage and took us up to the 5th floor lounge so we could wait for the room. She even set us up with some dishes and cutlery so that we could eat the lunch we’d brought from home (the suite had a kitchenette, so we planned ahead 馃槈 The lounge was bright and airy and we enjoyed reading our books. The front desk called when the room was ready (around 4pm) and we checked in to 1805. Cue sad horn noise.

We were SO disappointed in the room – it was very tight and cramped, with the exception of the glorious bathroom. We *thought* we’d booked the same one bedroom suite type that was featured in the photos on the website – so I went back down to the front desk where Benny helped me switch rooms for the next day because none were available that night.

We’d deliberately booked the one bedroom suite without the balcony because we didn’t think we’d use it – obviously we were unaware that the non-balcony one-bedroom suites are MUCH smaller and not suited to our needs. The next day, we were able to switch rooms at noon and the new room, 1501, was PERFECT and exactly what we wanted. Huge space, great layout, lovely views. From here on out, our stay was great and we were very happy.

We opted to say “no” to housekeeping in return for extra SPG points – the housekeeping staff came by to make sure we were stocked up on toiletries and to empty the garbage, which was nice.

We had breakfast a couple of times at the breakfast buffet – a surprising away of food and it was all hot and fresh. I also appreciated being able to go down to the lounge during the day to grab a couple of tea bags and some honey to soothe a sore throat. We got lunch one day from the coffee shop Nosh, which was also very tasty. There was no ice machine, but ice is free at the front desk and when I called, because it was a slow night, they were kind enough to send someone up to our room with a bag of ice, which was really nice.

Overall, the staff here was great and, once we got the right room, it was smooth sailing. Very convenient location, lots of amenities within easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend!

Our first time stay at this hotel was excellent. We had a large room, well equipped and decorated with taste. It had all the amenities expected, including a well equipped kitchenette. A generous breakfast was included and Happy Hour / Meal were available in their on-site Bar / Restaurant. It is a 5-minute walk to the Skytrain and Metropolis Shopping Center. Their parking is however a bit pricy. Overall, a good experience to be repeated.

Located a block from Metrotown Metropolis this hotel is a perfect modern comfort. Immaculately clean and modernly furnished. My room was a king suite with a perfect little kitchenette. While I only had one evening I could have easily spent much longer. The evening snacks in the lounge were simple and light. Crispy mini spring rolls, chicken wings and veges. The lounge area was clean and spacious. Had a lovely view of misty, rainy Burnaby but that’s pretty par for Vancouver winter. Convenient to everything in Metrotown including some terrific restaurants like Trattoria and Dinesty dumplings. And if it’s downtown you want to go the train is simple and quick.

Very impressed for my first stay at Elements by Westin. Will not be my last.

Happy to have returned to the Element Metrotown during the Christmas season. We were staying in a 1 bedroom suite on the seventeenth floor. We had amazing views of the Northshore Mountains on Christmas Day as it was sunny and we could see the peaks. Even when the clouds rolled in we still have great views.

The room was nice and a decent size for a couple. It had a separate bedroom / living room with a kitchen with a cooktop, full refrigerator, and dishwasher (think of a modern condo). It also had a nice sized balcony that I imagine would be nice to use in the warmer months. The bathroom was a decent size with a large walk in shower. They use full bottles of amenities in the washroom as they aim to be environmentally friendly.

The pool area was nice with a small lap pool, hot tub, and sauna. Breakfast was decent with a selection of warm food, breads, muffins, cereals, and juices. Plenty enough for all there. It was quite busy in the breakfast room but there was a variety of seating so finding a seat was not a problem.

Overall I would return to the Element again.

Very much enjoyed the hotel. Easy access to restaurants. Staff was very friendly and pleasant.

Breakfast was utilitarian. Some variety – the vegetarian option everyday though contained egg whites and spinach. I was tired of it after two days. (Note: I have spent 130 nights in hotels this year – I’m tired of hotel breakfasts and am bored of the same things every morning).

Room felt safe and private. Sheets were soft. Bed comfortable. Heat regulated nicely. Kitchenette was nice bonus and made it feel very homey. Professional service. Pool was on the small side but still nice. Nice hot tub and sauna. Enjoyed the elliptical in the work out room with the view. Be advised there is an $11 a day charge for parking. They include breakfast which was absolutely superb for a “complimentary breakfast” sort of thing. This hotel is only two years old and it shows. Everything was clean, new, fresh and modern. There was some noise coming through the ceiling from the room above and I called down to the front desk and within 5 minutes they had someone checking on the problem for me and it was resolved. Definitely worth $50 more over a lower class hotel in the area.

Near Metrotown, this hotel provides reasonable price compared to Downtown Vancouver. Hotel is fairly new with nice amenities. Breakfast was nothing special, but didn’t expect much. Staff was friendly. If you have the SPG app, can use keyless feature from phone app.

I was travelling with 3 of my kids, so I wanted something with a separate bedroom. I had a very nice room with a pull out bed in the living room, and a king sized bed in the bedroom. It was perfect, nice balcony, excellent location, very helpful staff. Great breakfast including vegetarian options for one of the kids. I would certainly stay here again.

Recently spent 3 nights here on business. Check in was quick and efficient and my room was clean with full sized refrigerator, microwave, plates and cutlery included. Great for longer stays and/or you prefer to prepare you own meals for health or cost considerations. The breakfast area was nice and spacious and offered a nice variety of foods. Breakfast sandwiches were a nice surprise. The building is mixed use with a condo. Didn’t cause me any problems during my stay. The only negative was being an SPG Platinum having them forget my welcome bonus and charging for internet. Not sure why that was but I called and had it fixed quite easily. Good dining options around with Trattoria, Earls and Cactus Club a short walk from hotel.

Very clean and very modern, This hotel is new, elegant and comfortable. Fully equiped kitchen. Magnificent views. The only “cons”: the breakfast room was not very comfortable, the elevators from the parking lot are different and distant from the ones to the room floors and the distance to the Vancouver city center.

Stayed here for 3 days as part of trip. Nice rooms: modern deco, laminate wood floors, good internet speeds. lovely view, pleasant staff, and surprisingly reasonably priced. Also right across the street from 2 malls!

Husband had to come to Burnaby for meetings so I came along. Very nice hotel, new and shiny clean. I like not having carpets in hotel rooms. Kitchenette was fully stocked with dishes, pans etc, nice fridge, dishwasher etc. Beds were really comfortable. Breakfast (included) has something for everyone. Cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, breads and pastries and warm breakfast wraps… yummy. Nice view from the breakfast room. also lounge area nearby to chill, read the paper or do some computer work.. the wifi also included worked very well throughout the hotel. I thought it odd that there was no directory in the room as far as where things were, hours etc. Had to phone the front desk with every small question like when the pool closed. They said it was to save paper which is great but I found it time consuming on our and their parts. They have lots of environment saving good ideas, like only linen changed when you want. I never understood the change the bed every day in hotel habit. And the refillable soap dispensers in the shower sure saves a lot of little plastic bottles. Also liked that the windows open for fresh air instead of using the air-condition as we are used to cooler indoor temps. Only complaint is we could clearly hear loud voices that seem to come from outside despite the closed windows.
