Our family of five frequently stays here when visiting Vancouver. These converted apartments are spacious, have a kitchen and can easily accommodate 5-6 people. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The mattresses are comfortable.

We have always loved this venue…sad it will be gone in the fall of 2017. The best for small conferences. The staff has an incredible memory of people who have stayed.
Dated decor, but fantastic place.

All good, except faulty Internet connections. Concierge services excellent, staff serviceful. Excellent situation, easy to move around. Vancouver pleased us a lot, and Vancouverites are really warm and nice!

This hotel is located a very short walk from a beach, and just a little farther to the water taxi to the Granville Island public market. It is equally close to Stanley Park. There are many restaurants and eateries on Denman Street and elsewhere. Downtown is easily accessible by either the 5 bus on Denman or the 6 bus on Davie. We had a large room with 2 double beds on the 20th floor, with a balcony overlooking the downtown area. There was a coffee maker and a small refrigerator in the room. Hot water was practically instantaneous in the sink and shower. Our biggest critique would be that there could be more and better lighting for reading in the room, but that is not a major critique. All this came at a most reasonable price for Vancouver, about $155 per night. There is an indoor pool with a hot tub and saunas. It was OK, but not great. We used the Brasserie restaurant, one of 2 hotel restaurants, twice for breakfast. It seemed a bit pricey (again, Vancouver itself seems a bit pricey) but was a very good choice. The service was excellent there, as was service from the concierges in the hotel.

I stayed at the Coast for 2 nights July 21 & 22. The hotel was booked because of the excellent location as it stands minutes from Stanley Park & the beach nearby. I was in room 1511. The view was spectacular with views of downtown Vancouver & the harbour.
I usually count on the users of this forum to post accurate, unbiased reviews of the places they have stayed at & here, although painful I will do the same. The decor was dated, I guess due to the property being older. For a hotel which charges in the high end of $200 to $300 per night for a standard room I expected a room more modern & not stuck in the 80s. There was a foul urine smell which exists in the washroom. Although not unbearable it did exist. I asked my travel companions in room 1510 if they encountered the same smell & they advised they did as well. I didn`t want to move to another room because it was only 2 nights & they were for sightseeing & touristy pursuits as opposed to trying to find the perfect room. Inside the room was a portable air conditioner that was so loud it was impossible to sleep while it was running. So my suggestion is to run it while you`re away & turn it off at night, or use ear plugs while you sleep. I did like the small coffee maker in the kitchen which had packets of Starbucks. Did not like that there were no room safe.
The elevators were small, more like phone booths but at least there were 6 elevators in the property.
A rather unfortunate thing happened in the underground parking lot that I observed. On our way to get the van for dinner this lady had her passenger side window smashed out & her belongings taken. Now I`m not blaming the hotel for this, to their credit they did post a security guard to patrol the lot but it just goes to show that no items should be in plain view in your vehicles. After that scenario we took everything out of the van no matter how cumbersome & took it to the room.
In terms of this 2 night stay, I chalked this up to a lesson learned. I will not be referring the Coast to anyone unless they modernize the hotel & start offering amenities one would find in a more modern property. In the future I would spend extra for a more newer hotel or get a better deal nearer to Richmond.

Such a great old hotel! Can’t beat the views, the people or the location! All perfect! We have been coming here for over 15 years,we park our car, never take it out again! We walk everywhere,so much to see and do…

This was a good place to stay even though it was quite a ways from the downtown core. The price was reasonable, the bed was comfortable and the neighbourhood was safe. I biked to the location and they let me keep the bike in my room.

We got a great price online and were pleasantly surprised with our room upgrade upon arrival to a mini suite. Gorgeous taupe and blue color palette with a sitting area, kitchenette and convenient layout. The hotel is older, from the 60’s or 70’s is my guess but our room had been updated, and the warm wood tones throughout were beautiful. There was plenty of room (unlike many other Vancouver hotels!) The closet was so big you could almost fit another person in there! The hotel is located in West Vancouver, about 3 blocks from English Bay/Beach and all the beachy restaurants and shops, which is a lot of fun when the weather is nice. The waterfront restaurants mostly had long waits so we moved a bit further into town and found one where we could sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Lots of fun shops to browse, bike rentals, grocery and liquor stores nearby. The entrance to the hotel is a little obscured but easy enough to find, around the corner from Denman. The Comox lounge was quite dated. I don’t recommend that- though the service was excellent and the beer choices good. It was kind of dreary on such a beautiful day. (But then, lots of bars are, aren’t they?) We walked to the hotel from Canada Place, where we got off the Skytrain. It was about a half hour walk along the seawall, which was beautiful. I don’t recommend doing this with much luggage, as the surface is uneven cobblestone-like and hard on the wheels. and your arm. It’s about a mile away and a nice walk for most with no hills or obstacles. If you choose to move up to the street level at Georgia, head West (or right) about 2 blocks. The next major intersection is Denman. You can also continue around the seawall walk but it takes you about 6 blocks out of your way, around the Bayshore complex. Once you hit Denman, follow it up another 6-7 blocks to Comox. No one in Vancouver had ever heard of Comox Street, thus these directions! (and our cell phones were useless in Canada) We walked to Robson Street, which is close, but the shopping district is about 10 blocks away, again an easy walk. There were a lot of people out and about into the evening, though I don’t know how safe the walk is in the dark. Given the number of people walking around, I would guess it would be okay. We took a taxi back to the hotel, which we nabbed at Sutton Place. Ran about $9 US with the tip. All in all, a lovely evening in BC The Westend is home to a gender diverse crowd, which we enjoyed greatly on this gorgeous evening.

I look forward to seeing the reception staff, concierge, etc. as I enter the Coast Plaza Hotel. I feel like I am at a home away from home at this particular Coast hotel. Everyone goes above and beyond the expected service for a Coast hotel. I am never disappointed by people’s attitudes and service because they are always courteous and accommodating.

We travel to Vancouver a couple of times a year and we just love the Coast Plaza. The hotel location is excellent – so close to English Bay and every type of cuisine you could want is steps away from the hotel. We did not have a vehicle with us this time, so we relied on public transit for our daily adventures, which included two trips to Roger’s arena – the location of the hotel provides easy access to the bus, which is just a few stops away from the Skytrain. Even coming in from the airport via transit was easier than expected.

The Coast Plaza is a great hotel, in a great location, with great people.

I stay at The Coast once or twice a year. It’s an older hotel with a West End feel. Friendly warm and comfortable. If you’re looking for glitz this may not be for you. If you want a home away from home you will always feel welcome. I look forward to my next stay at the Coast in the West End.

We always stay here the night before our big drive to Whistler, which has been at least four times since 2008. Always great rooms, amazing views and lovely staff at the front desk. Also in walking distance to some really great dining options – our tradition is to eat at Joe’s Bar and Grill the morning of the drive. I always feel like my Canadian vacation has begun once I’m on the grounds of Coast Plaza Vancouver.
