Welcoming and entertaining staff at reception. Great big room – nicely planned with sitting area and pentry. Good service and beds. Great that the parking, pool etc is in the same building. Even a small mall on one level with good service. And fabulous view.

Apparently they are closing in November 2017 and you can tell that no money is being spent on upkeep and the cleanliness of the rooms has greatly depleted. Don’t expect consistent internet either, very frustrating.

While the room was slightly dated the price was right, very clean, great location, fantastic view. I was guest of the day and got an upgrade to a very large suite (normal rooms are quite big too). Great value.

The room was very clean an comfortable. We will stay here again as it was very convenient. The guest services staff were outgoing and very professional. A great place to stay in downtown Vancouver. The closeness to Stanley Park was a great positive.

Pleasant friendly service. I would stay here again when and if I come back., Very prompt and excellent. I do not normally get room service. But I needed to this time and the dinner was delicious. The lady who brought it was amazingly friendly.

This hotel is literally at the end of the downtown area..actually it is in west end but it worked out for me perfectly because I walked everywhere.i was given a 34 floor room which was great…awesome view of Stanley park….the water and boats…4 elevators not all 4 working at times..there was a conference when I was there so at certain times the elevators were slow…staff was friendly and always helpful…the hotel is connected to a mall per say with 10 shops maybe….dollar store and a no frills store were the highlights..there is a drug store…7 11 and Safeway within a 5 minute walk…it is in a residential neighborhood on one side and like I said the end of downtown on the other end…so you will see homeless people and people with signs for money…I always felt safe walking around day and night…I walked to Yale town maybe 20 25 minute walk…just remember to go up the main streets Robson and Davie…..you will begin to walk uphill 10 minutes….to get to middle of Robson street maybe 15 minutes ….to walk to gas town 30 to 35…..Canada place maybe 30 minutes…English bay…5 minutes…Stanley park aquarium 15 minutes..to walk to sky train..20 minutes…you can take the 5 bus in front of the hotel which run up Robson then left on burrard and you can get off there to get to the sky train…bus is easy and quick…and right there..I also walked to Granville island…well like a 20 minute walk then a $5.50 10 second boat ride across the water.

I am impressed by lil things…the rooms actually had real q tips and makeup pad removers…and strangely it had full size bottles of lotion….body wash…shampoo..and conditioner..the bed was great..room kinda small but awesome view…yes robes …air conditioner works great..I like a cold room and has a balcony that opens as well…jacuzzi was actually hot pool is heated but didn’t get in it…went in hot tub everyday…restaraunt lounge there with cheap drink daily specials…also walking distance to many nice restaurants..would stay here again if the price was right..many downtown hotels can be quire expensive

Our family of five frequently stays here when visiting Vancouver. These converted apartments are spacious, have a kitchen and can easily accommodate 5-6 people. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The mattresses are comfortable.

We have always loved this venue…sad it will be gone in the fall of 2017. The best for small conferences. The staff has an incredible memory of people who have stayed.
Dated decor, but fantastic place.

All good, except faulty Internet connections. Concierge services excellent, staff serviceful. Excellent situation, easy to move around. Vancouver pleased us a lot, and Vancouverites are really warm and nice!

This hotel is located a very short walk from a beach, and just a little farther to the water taxi to the Granville Island public market. It is equally close to Stanley Park. There are many restaurants and eateries on Denman Street and elsewhere. Downtown is easily accessible by either the 5 bus on Denman or the 6 bus on Davie. We had a large room with 2 double beds on the 20th floor, with a balcony overlooking the downtown area. There was a coffee maker and a small refrigerator in the room. Hot water was practically instantaneous in the sink and shower. Our biggest critique would be that there could be more and better lighting for reading in the room, but that is not a major critique. All this came at a most reasonable price for Vancouver, about $155 per night. There is an indoor pool with a hot tub and saunas. It was OK, but not great. We used the Brasserie restaurant, one of 2 hotel restaurants, twice for breakfast. It seemed a bit pricey (again, Vancouver itself seems a bit pricey) but was a very good choice. The service was excellent there, as was service from the concierges in the hotel.

I stayed at the Coast for 2 nights July 21 & 22. The hotel was booked because of the excellent location as it stands minutes from Stanley Park & the beach nearby. I was in room 1511. The view was spectacular with views of downtown Vancouver & the harbour.
I usually count on the users of this forum to post accurate, unbiased reviews of the places they have stayed at & here, although painful I will do the same. The decor was dated, I guess due to the property being older. For a hotel which charges in the high end of $200 to $300 per night for a standard room I expected a room more modern & not stuck in the 80s. There was a foul urine smell which exists in the washroom. Although not unbearable it did exist. I asked my travel companions in room 1510 if they encountered the same smell & they advised they did as well. I didn`t want to move to another room because it was only 2 nights & they were for sightseeing & touristy pursuits as opposed to trying to find the perfect room. Inside the room was a portable air conditioner that was so loud it was impossible to sleep while it was running. So my suggestion is to run it while you`re away & turn it off at night, or use ear plugs while you sleep. I did like the small coffee maker in the kitchen which had packets of Starbucks. Did not like that there were no room safe.
The elevators were small, more like phone booths but at least there were 6 elevators in the property.
A rather unfortunate thing happened in the underground parking lot that I observed. On our way to get the van for dinner this lady had her passenger side window smashed out & her belongings taken. Now I`m not blaming the hotel for this, to their credit they did post a security guard to patrol the lot but it just goes to show that no items should be in plain view in your vehicles. After that scenario we took everything out of the van no matter how cumbersome & took it to the room.
In terms of this 2 night stay, I chalked this up to a lesson learned. I will not be referring the Coast to anyone unless they modernize the hotel & start offering amenities one would find in a more modern property. In the future I would spend extra for a more newer hotel or get a better deal nearer to Richmond.

Such a great old hotel! Can’t beat the views, the people or the location! All perfect! We have been coming here for over 15 years,we park our car, never take it out again! We walk everywhere,so much to see and do…

This was a good place to stay even though it was quite a ways from the downtown core. The price was reasonable, the bed was comfortable and the neighbourhood was safe. I biked to the location and they let me keep the bike in my room.
